Well, I did think this video might be a bit "contentious", combining both Amiga and Retrobriting, but was't prepared for the level of down thumbs!!!! Thanks for watching all!

There's not enough love in the comments for that Blakey impression. My old English teacher at school was a Mr Butler. He returned an essay with a low mark and I replied in my best Blakey voice - 'I'll get you for this butler!' Thanks for making me relive detention Mark. Was totally worth it as I played Zalaga on the classroom BBC Micro when he went off for a smoke.

Enjoyed the video. I've de-yellowed a few things myself using the same process, but with either direct sunshine or a single UV bulb and have had really good results. A couple of tips I'd like to share would be firstly wash what you're working on. The foil tray is a definite good call; I happened upon this idea myself after my first couple of de-yellowing 'adventures'. It does help distribute the UV light a little better. When you've applied the peroxide, wrap each part in cling film - this stops the cream drying out and means you don't have to re-apply it so often. If you manipulate the cream within the cling film every hour or so and reposition the part(s) in the foil tray, that also helps prevent the mottling effect that I've heard other people have suffered with, where some areas are bleached more than others. Very heavily yellowed items will still need several 'treatments', but the results can be very impressive. I've had a C64 breadbin and a SNES that were an incredible orange-brown colour to start with that ended up looking practically brand new after 3 applications of the peroxide. It can take a bit of time, but the results are worth the wait. Finally, as you mentioned - definitely wear gloves as that stuff burns! Anyway, thanks for the video, a very good watch as always and I hope my suggestions might be of some use!

Ahhh, the innuendo’s are strong on this one! 😮😂😂😂😮 A foil lined box works best so the light doesn’t do any damage to anything on and around the desk and of course your eyes if you’re in the room, and of course, cover in cling film.

Yeah, definitely should have used gloves. I tend to use liquid peroxide 40 as it gets everywhere and 5 hours is typical. The sun is the best but rarely seen up here in Glasgow so I use uv LEDs. After much experimenting I've found UVc works best with a bright white light too and a sous vide to maintain 50c but do NOT sit in the same room as UVc. Great video mate

I'll reply to myself, because I know a thing or two about those sun lamps. You see, I'm one one of those people who['se skin] can't handle light, AT ALL, so my windows all have 99+% UV-A and -B filters on them, professionally installed, AND they block 70% visible light as well, but that's not enough, so I also have curtains everywhere, some of them completely light proof. I can go outside [on cold heavily overcast days for like 10 minutes at a time, in summer, and in [sun]light maybe 5 mins at a time], IF I wear double layered long clothing, leather gloves and a big hat, so it's safe to say I hate summer the most. It's an autoimmune disease, sad to say, so it's permanent in my case, but it's not contagious at all [a lot of people freak out when I mention that it's an autoimmune disease because they think AIDS !!!!! etc, so I have to mention that fact every time, oh well. Anyway, I used to have a Philips lamp kinda like this, but with a bulb of some kind, and modded [I had to take out a certain filter on the glass], and I'd have to turn it on remotely from about 8 to 10 metres away, expose my skin/body to it and turn around in a few seconds and switch it off again. This was to try and 'harden' my skin. Sadly it didn't work. Because it didn't work, I put the filters back in, and gave it away. Those people might still have it, and I could maybe send it to you? That or the Amiga stuff I have laying around, not sure what it all is, and it might not be what you want, but it's yours if you do want it. Also, I am quite hammered at the moment, so I might delete this later, but for now, the offer stands ! Love your channel mate.

Nah it really is as easy as it looks. And if you dont have a sunlamp, but do get genuine direct sunlight for a few hours a day, simply baste your case in the HP, wrap with clingfilm to stop it drying out in the air, and then put them out in your yard, on the roof, wherever gets the best sun for a few hours. When I did my classic gameboy it took me two days of decent sun, but thats UK sun so your mileage may vary... considerably! Try not to let the HP blob up too much though, try to get an even coat or it can lead to mottling. And if possible, get 12% lab or food grade HP over haircare products. That way you know you're getting good stuff that isnt going to bleach, then re-stain your plastics. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07H2LT6VW/?coliid=I2GJALABW8USJ2&colid=14WF8MSV24IDV&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

@@Graytail Lots of people have retrobrighted stuff that still looks fine. Sounds like people didn't do a good enough job and let it re-yellow (retrobrite reverses yellowing but it doesn't prevent re-yellowing) and then had some plastic go brittle, which tons of old plastic is, like old C64 and Apple II cases for example.
