I saw another video with a guy saying he built this by him and his wife in 2 hours! That is crazy fast. I would agree with your time frame for a novice like me, plan on that as a minimum and up to 7. Congrats Amy! yes, I told you that darn roof is a pain. I think they need to redesign the roof to be able to be assembled on the ground in two pieces and placed on top as a unit. Glad to hear you got it done!

Wow, that's awesome that you completed the project by yourself. About how long did it take you? I have a small roof leak, but I haven't tried to pinpoint where its coming from. Its towards the front, and not too bad, but I would like to try to seal it up. Hope the vid helped! Thanks

2 days, I assembled most sub assembly(roof, doors, bracket) inside 1st day, then when it was warmer the next day... 27°f I put it together, I also went to home depot, bought 6ft & 3ft single track shelving(adjustable) screwed it to the walls to add space to put stuff towards the top, and adds rigidity to the walls.

Great to hear that. Like I said, the roof did leak a little bit the first season, but doesn't leak now. If you have delicate items, I might use clear caulking from the exterior. That is a design flaw and if I had to do it again, id use a couple of long sealable screws in the mix with the regular screws.

I live in upstate New York winters here can brutal so I sealed up all gaps hopefully it will hold to the test lol 😂

James, thanks for the comment and update! Yeah, that roof is kind of a pain. Good idea on the roof screws. Like I said, just a little better design would have made this shed great, but its not bad for the features, strength of the roof and the cost. I got the Craftsmans version too. It was giving us problems with the wall panels not wanting to snap in, and now the roof is difficult. We worked for hours today, will finish tomorrow. I wish this video showed how he installed the roof.

@@blackgold2029 I wonder if the wall system is different for the Crafstman series? All we did for the panels is put it on the floor piece, where the cut outs were and pressed down and slid them into place. The need to be inserted in a specific order. That's the only thing I can think of becoming an issue with them not wanting to slid into place. Then we connected them with the silver metal vertical pieces. I didn't record that part, because for our install it was pretty straight forward. The roof is difficult, i agree. I wish I had done video of the install of the roof, but its just it was a lot of pieces and some of the screws didn't want to catch. @@carlosericmontoya for the walls, the install sounds like the same as yours. We slid them into place then pushed down to lock into position. Not all of them would lock down into the precut slots. So we just left it as is and crewed the round plastic pieces into the walls. The walls seems sturdy, but we haven't finished the roof yet. Its been sitting unfinished since I wrote this comment. We may try today to get the roof properly install, I just need to get a ladder.

Black Gold oh man that sucks! You def had a beef for a return, those parts should slide together without much effort, maybe a rubber mallet but we didn’t use one at all. I hope it all works out. Craftsman sheds don’t sound like the same quality! Keep me posted, the roof is by far the hardest part.

U da man! I def know if we didn't have the kennel to have to work around and had a straight slab to walk to it would have been faster. Plus the lack of vids out there was very disappointing. CarlosEricMontoya I would say I’m above average for sure and have lots of tools. I definitely don’t mean any disrespect about how long it took us each respectively. Just wanted to share my experience so others may not be discouraged. I was actually surprised how well all the pieces fit, I expected less quality for the price.

We have also been very happy with the shed, the quality and the price. We were able to empty the garage and paint the ceilings, walls, trim and then coat the floors! That is a good idea. I also think placing a bead of silicon will help with any leaks - do that before the roof has some age and debris imo. I placed my shed in a dog kennel type area so I used a bungie cord to hold my doors open, but that is also why I recommend (if you do a slab) to extend it out past the doors. Then you can use a door wedge or something for the doors. I believe it would have been nice to have a plastic or thin metal brace at the top of the doors to prop them open.

Yes the roof is what these guys need to redesign. Honestly I don’t understand with all the slide together type walls, they should have done the roof in a similar fashion with less screws! Congrats!

That’s pretty amazing that you’re installing this yourself! Yes, the roof is definitely the toughest part. If I’m understanding your question correctly, I believe the answer is to push the channel support piece in first to the front (or back) wall. Once you get it in there, you’ll be able to lay it in the recessed channel and install it. I agree, the instructions are not great at all for this step, and yes you do have to remove that 1 screw you’re talking about to push it under the center support bracket, if that makes sense? I should have shown a time lapse of the roof install in retrospect! Let me know if this answers your question OR if I missed it.

A Jochum also, for an idea for your flooring; maybe installing a metal corner bead or sheet rock corner angle on the outside to tie your floor into the plywood floor may help. You can also use a long screw with a washer to drill in from the top of the floor into the wood floor to hold it in place. Cover and seal with gorilla tape, or similar.

@@carlosericmontoya - Thanks Carlos! Yes, that was my question. I'll be going back to complete the install next week. I'm guessing that 1st screw just has to be angled a bit to get the drill/screwdriver in for the kill. I honestly question the need for the 8 pieces of metal, as they don't to a lot. It would seem better to have them angle at 90 degrees in the front and back to allow them to lock into the front a bit more. Anyway, a summary for anyone installing this shed: Do everything in your power to make sure the screws you are installing go into the markings/dimples on each piece - don't let them be even an 1/8th of an inch off or everything will be off a bit as well. It's easy to make that mistake and you'll find that even the 8 pieces of metal will not connect properly as well as the roof gutters on the the top.

Make sure that your pieces are completely slid together - like a wood floor. Then you should be able to screw in those plastic screws with the tool and it should get tight! Keep me posted.

Hey Rusty. Thanks for your comment, glad you liked the video. Two years later the sunlights windows have held up great. Like I mentioned in the video, there was a design flaw with the roof screwing together from the bottom. There was a small leak (not from the sky lights) but I think with dirt and leaves its sealed up, because I haven't see much water after rain now. I have some trees around me, but it still gets plenty of direct sunlight. I was very lucky to have a slab already done to place this project on, so it was pretty level. The screws lined up pretty well for me, so yeah its prob you may be off level a bit lol. Are you just concerned about the sky lights for water leaks or what was your main concern?

@@carlosericmontoyaI had much more level ground that would of been easier to place my shed but my backyard gets full sun exposure all day long. My decision to place the shed on the side of my house was because it's the only spot that gets shade but like I mentioned that side had a dang 16" slope to deal with. Other than the rear right roof panel not lining up completely it was pretty spot on. Anyways, yes I was concerned about the sunlight windows cracking and eventually leaking although we don't get much rain here in the desert. By the way I purchased the shed at Lowes on Monday for $649 and yesterday it went on sale for $549 so I went and got my $100 difference refunded to me. Just thought I'd share that..😅 . @@185chargers Score - I'm always good for a great deal! My thoughts on the sky lights is ... I think you will be fine for some years, however - I'm sure it would be pretty inexpensive to buy those two skylights now as a replacement project when it's needed. Who knows if they will still have the parts down the road. That, or place some tint over them. They are a durable plastic, but as you already know - direct sunlight is brutal! That would at least safe guard it. In all my research, I have not heard any horror stories with those wearing out quickly, but then again - you might be the first! joegmm, i try to keep up with the comments and check in often. Interesting that the floor is level. Usually it's the floor that is unlevel and you can shim up one side or the other. As far as the actual shed, check to make sure the front door panels are properly joined up with the floor. Sometimes if you adjust the shed a little, the panel can actual slip out of the floor connection. Let me know if those don't work - There may be something we can try with the hinges themselves.

Vincent, as I recall the first piece slides in at the floor and the next price slides into the first. Then you get the plastic screw driver and drop a couple of screws into the two panels and lightly tighten the panels. Repeat until all the panels are in place and then tighten all the screws once you verify everything is set correctly

Hi Jeff. The floors slide and lock into place. The floor screws together from two pieces. I do believe if you have a good foundation that is level it will be good2go. Otherwise, yes I think I understand your question as wondering if they will come apart... so far no gaps or issues with the floor or walls with the slab I have. There is no shifting, but if you are using a gravel and paver foundation there may be some movement, but I have not any negative reviews stating that. Does that answer your question?

17 years! I think that is the record! I'd say its just wear and tear. I know you can use silicone caulking to reseal seems. Also, what is the floor made up of? If its concreate, are there cracks in it? It may just have to be re-leveled if its not concreate. Also, there is a screw driver that comes with the shed and normal maintenance says that you may have to tighten down the big plastic screws from inside of the shed. Let me know your situation.

Hi! Carlos, thank you for the reply. If the shed came with a screwdriver I really can't remember. My husband and I set it up. For the subfloor we dug up the footprint of the shed just enough to level it with gravel and sand and we tamped it down with a flat square weight that comes with a handle (10"x10" or thereabouts) once we made sure the ground was leveled we dug up the equivalent of the volume of a milk jug in dirt - put a jug at each corner. Then filled the jugs with concrete and we set a large screw inside (we did some measuring at this point like you would square the platform of a wooden deck but we had a good margin of error to play with before the concrete could set. Once they were in place, we set the two halves of the resin floor and aligned the holes with the screws in the jugs. Then leveled with one another..(level the floor by tightening or losing the corresponding screws)- then allowed to dry the required time, then we built the shed the next day. We live in Mississippi and we've had 3 tornadoes in the area and other really bad wind storms and the shed has held well. From what I can see in your video, the shed has gone through some really good improvements, especially in the joining of the interior walls. I will check the level and will tighten the screws as per your suggestion. It can't hurt anything. The good news is that there doesn't seem to be any leaks from the roof. What type of silicone caulking do you recommend? Also, we added the wire shelves that were sold separately but I noticed you have self-standing shelves. Also, great tip to put essential oils on the rims of the containers.. I use oil of cloves. It is also a good bug repellent... thank you for taking the time to answer..👍

D E I really need to do a follow up. I have shelving and a solar light setup that is pretty easy to do. I two (2) have six (6) foot plastic industrial shelves up on the right side of the shed, and plastic bins on the left (mostly holiday decorations. That’s leaves a clear area in the middle to walk in and to store temporary items while doing projects. It works out great!

Sorry for the delay - my notifications were off. I have not had any issues with rodents - its SPIDERS. Its like a green house for spiders. Ive started using peppermint oil as I understand they do not like that smell. However, there are many small opening for lizards and bugs to go into and I believe they could have done a MUCH better job to join those corners better OR at least have a piece you can add after the build that you can insert into the corners. I'm sure you could duct tape them. Luckily no rats, mice or wasps nest have been found on my shed. I just did a clean out the other day and just a bunch of spiders.

Hi, sorry for the delay. Yes, I own this shed and we live in Texas, so it doesn't get very cold. However, I have pinned a link that shows the interior of the shed. I do believe you can caulk on the roof seems to help with any water or snow. I think you could use some flex seal on the few places that light comes in. This roof does have the vent / clear plastic lights on top of the shed. If you are just trying to make it water tight and keeps bugs and snakes and bees out, I believe its very achievable. However, this is not a great shed for extreme cold or heat in my opinion. The design of the shed is meant to allow air flow and it even has a vent screen on the back of the rear upper panel. I hope this helps.

I used 1/8” md replaceable caulk cord and 3/8” Frost King Poly Foam Caulk Saver...

Absolutely, I’d say that’s the benefit of putting up one of these versus a metal or wood shed. You can take it with you if the property is not your own. If it is your property you will have very little maintenance for years.

Lol yes it was a hot couple days for sure! Well,I think they did an awesome job innovating the side panels and was looking forward to seeing the roof go the same. However, as you know that roof is a time killer and the directions are horrible! If they would have a way to slide the roof pieces together with screws or bolts holding the corners in place that would speed up the process. In addition, make longer support brackets versus having 8 or more that is crazy. I do feel like an elephant can sit on the roof though lol

It is the Suncast BMS7702 Vista 7 ft. x 7 ft. Resin Storage Shed, Grays. I bought mine from Home Depo for $550 on sale.

On as hot a day as that was, I set my tea out and it was brewed in about 10 minutes! lol Yeah, a buddy of mine wants to install one of these, and I'm sure it will go a lot faster, but then again - maybe not!

Thanks! No warping yet! We had a very hot summer. We have had a ton of rain and other than a small leak where I knew the screws didn't seat well, the shed has been fine. I may add some silicone caulk on the room joint and screws.

@@carlosericmontoya I built most of this today. Took forever and instructions are horrible, yada yada. Is silicone caulk your solution for the roof? We are having a hard time getting the screws to penetrate into the other roof piece, even with someone pushing down on the roof from above AND pushing up from inside. The screws are too short and just don't take. What have you done for a long-term weatherproofing solution for that roof gap?

@@GMHakim11 Yes, that seems like a design flaw for sure. The length of their screws needs to be longer OR the roofs should be able to slide together to avoid screws all together??!? Back to your question. I think that would be a good solution for that gap. We decided to wait and see. The first few months after a good storm we saw some minor water on a storage bin, but it wasn't enough for me to seal it all up. After some tree debris and I would assume some expansion and contracting the roof doesn't leak. We had a heck of a storm this year and not a drop of water was found inside. I'd test it with a water hose first before going thru the hassle, but unfortunately you may have to resort to caulking. I have NOT received any feedback of leaking roofs from any of the 43k views of this video...so far. Keep me posted and good luck!

@@carlosericmontoya Thanks - the back left piece of our roof is a little concave, so there's a definite gap there. Maybe a manufacturing flaw. I'm going to reach out to Lowe's about it, but still, perhaps it will warp back into shape. Not sure. Do you get snow where you are? That is a concern here.

The model that we have just slides into the floor and secures to one another at the joints with a plastic screw.

isaiah jenkins yours is the first bad experience I’ve heard with this shed. Sorry to hear that went bad for you. That’s a lot of effort to have it go wrong. I’ve had 110 degree weather and the shed has held up excellent. My model didn’t come with the metal braces installed, we had to do it ourselves. The roof can be built better for sure. I wonder if anyone else had had warping. I do have trees that provide partial shade, but it does revive full sun for some part of the day.
