welcome to all my new patrons!
Today here in the north of England it is like Summer! I am going to spend the whole day in my garden, but before I got started with that, I went for a walk to the Secret lake. You are most welcome to come with me!
Lately, there has been a lovely surge in the subscribers to this channel which has been rather marvellous! You are very welcome. This has meant a corresponding increase in the number of comments - also quite wonderful. Please know that I Read Every Single One and try to reply but these days, trying to do that can take me hours. Five hours yesterday. So I am going to ask you to understand that I would love to reply to you all, but I simply cannot. (sad face emoji)

It is 6 am here on Sunday morning. I woke up at 5 with my heart jumping around and worried about a snafu in my dad's caregiver situation. I knew I wasn't going to go back to sleep so turned this on...Just what the doctor ordered...TRANQUILITY. Thank you, Kate. I am telling you this so you will know what a gift you give by sharing your world with us.

Candace - I hope the snafu was/is solvable... I know exactly what this is like. So I am pleased I could give you a few moments of tranquility. I have many more trips to local places planned. Not fancy places, just local beautiful forgotten corners! Stay well - and I love how supportive you commenters are of each other ! xxx

Candace Nagle I too am sorry for your unrest. Sometime life is not not as settled as we would like. To get back to sleep for me is to centre my thoughts and think of nothing but count back from 200 by threes. If your mind wanders start again.. I am always amazed when I wake up and realize I had been sleeping. But 6:00 am sound like a nice calm time. I am a morning gal. 🇨🇦

Hello Kate~What a lovely stroll. I was raised in a very similar area in NE Ohio, US, and have many many memories of the birdsong and awakening of the earth. I love that smell. My father was a gardener, naturalist, and all-around outdoors (never hunted) sort of man, and we three children were always at his side for strolls through the area. Thank you for the lovely memories that you evoked. I invited my son to come and join me for the RR stroll, and he really loved it, and said that when you returned later in the year, he love to see it in full bloom. We're to have a blizzard later today, so Spring is only a wish right now, however my main wish is that my daughter returns safely from her road trip, we know how dangerous white-out conditions can be. Thanks again Kate, and I look forward to your visit to this charming site later in the spring.

By now, I'm sure your daughter is safe and well. It can be such a worry - this winter weather! I can't quite believe that February is this warm here. Everything is waking up and starting to grow. It's far too early! Stay warm and yes - I will go back with my camera in the (proper) spring! xxx

Oh my, Kate... you live in an absolutely beautiful area. What a way to spend your Sunday morning. I thoroughly enjoyed the history of it all. To think at one time it was such a productive and bustling area. Now it rests and is once again given back to nature. I could stay there all day listening to the birds, I can never get too much of that. A Lovely video, thank you for sharing your home and area.

I used to mind the tourists in our woodsy lake area, but like you I realized that I'm so blessed to get to live here all year long and these poor souls have to go back to the city after their vacation. So now I enjoy seeing them enjoying our area. In the winter we have it pretty much to ourselves (except for snowmobilers!). ;)

Coming to your channel everyday is like a trip home . To me there is no place as peaceful .I left home when I was 20 years old , now I'm 70, however I still miss home. My uncle was a devoted fisherman he loved to be out over night fishing. How wonderful that the Railway station is still in use. My husband is a retired Railroad engineer. This was like reading a book, I feel as though I was there. Thank you Kate.

The station masters house and station would be a grand place to live. The station house would make an awesome craft/sewing studio. Thanks for the walk this morning. I used to go for long walks in our woods in Tennessee with my wolfdogs. That is until my back started giving way and my Drs told me no more for fear I'd fall and be alone. I love walking but now it's hard to walk thru a large store then back to my car. I'm a couple yrs older than you and we have so many interest alike. Enjoyed this so much.

Hello Kate ~ The songbirds have not arrived where I live yet. It is something I wait for with anticipation. It always marks the beginning of Spring for me along with the sighting of the first Robin. As I mentioned before I live not far from one of the two rivers that join in my town. We were once known as The Forks of the Grand. Later we were renamed for the plaster of Paris that was mined here. I thought it quite lovely to see the Snowdrops along your walk. Have a wonderful week Kate and thank you for the video.

In April there is what is called a "Carp Rodeo" in a tiny little town in the middle of Nevada called Alamo, Nv. The "rodeo" is on Lake Pahranagat which means "Valley of the shining water" in Paiute. It is a fun family outing. One of the ladies in our Red Hat group of 7 caught the first carp of the day and won a prize. We had such fun that day and went on to visit the Alien Museum.I so enjoyed your lovely walk by the "secret lake'"! I love the scenery. As I live in the desert, the water, trees, and the little coots singing are as soothing as a good cup of tea.

HI Kate, What a wonderful spring walk. You really live in the middle of nature on a beautiful spot of earth. The snowdrops look magical and completely untouched. If there are some blossoms near us, they will be demolished immediately. The most beautiful thing, I find, is that you can walk into the forest, and find such beautiful places. If you don't have a car here with us, you need more than an hour by bus or tram, or much longer until you get out of the city. I think the old station still has a lot of charm. You can well imagine how life used to play out here. If you plan your next walk, let me know. I come here jumped and join you. In the imagination, at least. Thank you for this beautiful video. Big hug Claudia

Kate you didn’t say if you fish if you do or you talk to one of the fisherman get you one of the fish put it underneath your fig tree bury it It makes wonderful fertilizer I live down the river in Michigan we used to have carp the time. My husband would always bring them to me I would bury them in my garden. We enjoyed fishing behind our house. When we first got married over 50 years ago we build our own house. We had an out house outback we would watch the ice as we sat on our bottom. We had four children they all learn to swim in the river. The children loved it. God bless you for showing us your lake.

Thank you Kate for the lovely 'tame' walk. February here in Australia is so very different, we are getting to the end of a hot and dry summer, hanging out for cooler air and some rain. It was a treat to walk through the cool woods with you. My rainbow lorikeets came back today, the peaches are all gone so the apples are their target. One brave lorikeet found the bird seed on the deck and helped herself. The other birds didn't mind sharing. Love from Ocean Grove.

I could ‘see’ your little children running to climb that tree that holds so many memories for you. You really do live in a beautiful part of the world. Thank you Kate 🌺💖

Beautiful video and such a lovely place you call home❣️To be surrounded with trees is such a blessing. Thank you for sharing your home place and look forward seeing more. One of my favorite things to do is to take a walk and stop off at a cafe for a treat of coffee or tea and a biscottis . How lovely there is the train depot cafe after a walk in the woods ❣️❣️❣️

The Last Homely House East of the Sea thank you Kate. I’m getting quite a lot done on the inside. I’ve taken bags of gently loved items to our local helping hands. Yet , it seems I have even more stuff... oh well... I love my inside sanctuary and looking forward to time in the outdoor sanctuary ❣️❣️❣️

Oh that beech tree! That brings back memories of the tree that used to grow in front of my grandmother's house. All of us young people would climb it. I was heartbroken to see one year that someone had bought her house and cut down the tree!

What a delightful way to start the day!! I woke up quite early here in NW Oregon, USA with too many worries to get back to sleep, turned on my phone and up popped this perfect video! There aren't any safe places for a woman to walk alone in nature where I live; creepy men and cougars lurk along the wooded trails, and menace small passersby.😳 I truly appreciate this beautiful, SAFE virtual walk with you, and now feel relaxed, calm and invigorated. Thus refreshed, I'm going to pick blackberries from the side of our field and bake some scones, put on the kettle and face my big day ahead with a big smile. Thank you, Kate!😍

Oh what tales that tree could tell!! Just perfect ty. There's nothing like being out in the woods, listening to nature is there. Pure bliss. I was trying to imagine that railway platform many years back and how different it must have looked then. It's so pleasing to see these places being tended and reused instead of leaving them to rot and sit unwanted, It was almost as if Nature had stepped in to lend a hand to bring it back to life. Seeing this at a time like this, during Covid 19 lockdown makes staying in, away from nature and the woods , a little easier. Bless you.xxx

What a beautiful area you live in - Magical!! and I loved that train station setting; the arches of the bridge didn't look high enough to let a train through :)

I really enjoyed this, you live in such a beautiful area and the history was interesting. Sad to think of how hard people had work in those days. I imagine the train ride back, even in the dark, must have been a welcome chance to sit and relax.
