This week on Sunday Longplay, the celebration of Mario's 35th anniversary kicks off with the Game Boy Advance remake of my favorite game in the franchise and a game I played 10 years ago in the earliest days of my channel. Welcome to Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World!
Many additions were made to the GBA version compared to the original SNES release. In this version, the game has a status menu that keeps track of all of the Yoshi Coins you've collected in each stage (with some levels that didn't have them in the SNES version now having them), all of the exits you've found, and which character you found each exit with. There is a reward for completing everything in each category. Most notably, the biggest addition is Luigi being playable! Luigi plays similarly to how he did in the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 (a.k.a. The Lost Levels), jumping higher than Mario but having less traction.
In this longplay, I will be playing as both Mario and Luigi, having them each find exactly half of all of the 96 exits, and finding all of the Yoshi coins scattered throughout Dinosaur Land!
