The third picture is really good. The way the man is looking directly at you and the girl looking away is good. What caught my eye the most is the man holding his hat and looking like yes I'm bald but my little buddy, daughter? means more😅

Martin 000-15 on the wall there? Gotta say, for me, the seagull one is my favorite. The triangle shapes and the action of the bird is fantastic. All I can hear in my mind is "Mine, Mine, Mine". The dog one is also cool and reminds me of the 3 legged Alice in Chains dog. I actually would crop that down to just the full dog, though that tail up on that leg may make that difficult.

Haha! Seagulls (and their shrieking) are a constant presence around here!

3 is the best in my opinion because you have the facial expressions with a lot of character. 5 and 7 are the next ones that are interesting for the same reasons.

I liked number 8 the best. The angles of the rooves are almost disorientating and the gull taking off is captured perfectly. I also think I appreciate landscapes and such more than photos of people. Just my own personal preference. But I love the instagram channel. I love seeing people get excited about a new hobby!

Hey Bradley, definitely enjoy seeing your photos on instagram. Being a North Carolinian, it’s very interesting to “people watch” through your photos. I’ve noticed a higher contrast and color range in your more recent works. Most of the photos have a playful yet quirky focus and typically more going on than I realize at first glance. The most interesting pieces to me are the non-staged photos where the subject glances at you. Keep the daily challenge going!

As far as it goes with photography, I think some cropping and working with filters to assist with a couple of them. Look forward to seeing more

Photography critique: I found most of the shots of people to be rather mundane, since people just going about their lives in an urban setting is something anyone who lives in an urban area sees all day every day, but I really liked #6 and #8! You've got a great eye for capturing animals and I enjoyed the reversal of our usual expectations in #6 with the friendly smiling pitbull and the other dog being the one barking and acting aggressively. For #8 it was just flawless timing how you managed to capture all the seagulls spaced out perfectly in the frame and all going about different activities. You'd make a great nature photographer!

Thanks for sharing your photos. There were some really great ones. I'd say the punk rock couple was by far my favorite. I'd love to see some low f-stop shots. It seems like most of these are stopped down pretty high. I think adding some depth of field to your portraits would go a long way in making them stand out, thinking in particular about the punk couple shot. Great work though man.

Thanks for the feedback! I think the couple was shot at around f2.8 or f2 because I was in a pretty dimly lit area, but usually I AM shooting as narrow as I can to get the most depth of field possible while still having a high enough shutter speed. I'm trying to catch moving people with snap focus, so I need all the depth of field I can get. :-)

I think you have a way of capturing a moment. Each of your photos tells a whole story. It's hard to pick just one; I like the dogs (of course!) but I think the father and daughter one is so expressive. Also, maybe Pink Guy might have someone related to him who has or had cancer? But that would be a weird question to ask. Maybe, "Is there a meaning behind your pink vibe?" 🙂

Bradley, my favorites are the first, with the man and kid walking. Sort of a "life and art" theme. And my second choice would be the homeless woman. Some unusual communication going on with that one. I will never forget the day I was standing on the sidewalk, with no camera, and this long-haired hippie freak guy was walking west, and this young Amish woman, with her family, was walking east. Just after they passed, both turned around and smiled at the other. Man, what I'd have given to have had a camera!

I would like to see your 80 photos. I enjoyed the woman with blonde hair in front of the street mural. Like the lady holding door for strange guy and the dog one. I have been using my phone on every morning walk on the beach to take photos of the sunrise. It's funny, I love about 20 percent of my photos and send them on to family for a morning photo or might even go have a cigar at sunset. As I live on the beach, it's addictive to shoot everyday.😊

Nice work on these! Pic 5 reminds me of the character Pris from the 80's Blade Runner film. Pic 2 had a great story to go with it, sheesh! Pic 3 had some fantastic expressions. All in all, definitely see some potential in your work, especially if you work on your cropping, just my opinion. You've got an eye for capturing individuals in a subtle way.

I recommend working on how you frame the composition, which is tough to do on the fly but really makes the shot. The master of this is Henri Cartier-Bresson. I liked the movement and shadow in the shot of the homeless woman. The photo of the little girl on her father's shoulders is also good, but the cars and bicycle are distracting so it would be better if you cropped it vertically.

I know little about photography and tend to enjoy landscapes and nature photography more so than photos of people/streets. That said, my very unqualified opinion is that 2, 3, 5, 8, and 9 really stood out. If I were flipping through many photographs, these would have been the ones that I would stop and appreciate more. All look professionally taken to my untrained eye, however. Rather than burying this in a Sunday video, it may gain more traction by having a separate one dedicated to it, such as a series where you share and receive feedback on your own personal favorites. Not trying to create more work for you though.

It seems that your style is leaning towards capturing people’s public persona in an urban setting. If you can capture this naturally with less busyness or the right kind of busyness you will have some great photography. Number 3 captures this best I think.

you know what would be super cool if you started doing bw darkroom printing. not sure how much space is in your new living space but it doesnt need all that space and its cheap to get a working enlarger. you can really hone in your creativity. even mistakes turn into happy accidents both in the camera and in the darkroom. its very rewarding and maybe even sell some of your prints/give away to viewers. just some thoughts. other than that the photos look great and i agree with the other commenter that lower f stops would be better. maybe try zone focusing if you want sharp focus with good speeds. or just go up in iso if you need lesser f stops. push/pulling is great tool for this if you dont want to use another film stock.

Ask and ye shall receive. First 2 are bad (too many colors or unclear or uninteresting). 3rd was an actual composition and features 2 visually interesting people. Red stairs is bad--the foreground elements are just too much. Blonde girl in 4 is definitely decent and is, again, a composition. What is she looking at? Did someone just call her? An actual "moment" was captured here and I like it. Dog one, boring. 2 people in kitchen...hmmm, maybe. Bird one is a keeper, although it's still just a tad too busy (too many shapes/colors). It's all about what you leave out. Pink bag guy is bad. There is nothing happening there, no emotion. The girl on the sidewalk ledge is promising, but not excellent. Study the masters! I know you're into camera photography and not film photography, but Ingmar Bergman's films "The Silence" has unbelievable stills in it--every frame is poetry. You will only get better from here. Good luck and don't give up.

Thanks for the feedback. I DO like film composition as well. A read a great book once that analyzed stills from Tarkovsky films as though they were stand alone photographs. Good stuff.

@@stuffandthingsyoutube And you also like old b&w Brando/Bogey films too. Those are loaded with great cinematography. In highschool I would pause the movie and draw the composition/character blocking. Use whatever study technique works for you.
