There’s always been this cretinous thing with this show where the hosts have to be seen to indicate how absolutely hilarious and entertaining it is by laughing raucously after every sentence.

I think Karl is just so naturally funny that he creates that reaction in people no matter what he says, plus years of Ricky laughing at everything he says has primed people to react in such a way. That doesn't necessarily mean they're laughing at him because they think he's stupid. Although you're right in he often makes good points that are overlooked.

The hosts on this show are particularly bad, they seem to massively struggle that someone who has a reputation for being a bit "dim" outsmarts them and out humours them at every turn. They can't keep up with him, & the result is this.

@@69SalterStreet No they think he’s funny but strange just like Ricky and Stephen and a lot of his fans do, they’re not condescending, there’s no bad energy. Tim Lovejoy goes back a long way with Karl and used to work with him on XFM, he’s a good dude.

Karl's a more interesting guest - Warwick only gets a word in when the hosts deliberately include him. At 8:05 he's annoyed because Karl moved the conversation on so now he has to stand there quietly pretending to cook for the rest of the show.
