Watching you made me think back to my youth when I did everything you did at one time or the other. I had 4 of the old Gleaner A's and a couple A 2's and I dont think there is a nut or bolt on them I havent touched at one time or the other. Spent many days in the sun with no cab but I never complained one bit ! I think the worst one was the AC 100 self propelled combine ware you sat right in front of the end of the shaker bed and straw walkers, No matter witch way the wind blew you still got covered in dust ! You did a lot of work to the old girl and got it back in the field running again 2 thumbs up from me ! Keep up the great work ! Bandit

Well Done Frank. You come along way with the Gleaner! Wasn't much when you started, but now the old girl is doing what it's supposed to do. Couple belts, few tweaks, Umbrella, and you're on your way!! TGP

So the Cows weren't hungry, and you couldn't find any Goats Eh? 🤣 Cunningham Custom Harvesting is born out of necessity. I feel your pain Frank, we patched together our old 1951 International Harvester Combine for 20 years more after the Termites were done with it. Who knew you had to be a Carpenter to be a Combine Mechanic? Nicely done Frank, congratulations. 👍

We had a neighbor that tried to commit suicide one year. Dad put our two 55 John Deeres with his 95 John Deere, all three need to go to the scrap yard and we made wheat and oat harvest. All together we probably cut 1500 acres. If it hadn’t been for baling wire, hose clamps, duct tape and sheet metal patches we would never have made it. It will teach you that the impossible is possible if you just keep pushing forward.

Its nice to see fellow Oklahomans getting the work done with what they have, taking an old machine and putting it back in the field.

Frank, I enjoyed this Gleaner Sunday Service video immensely! I am impressed with your overall mechanical knowledge and perseverance to get that ole girl working again. Like you said, you were questioning why you even started this project, but once you’re in knee deep, all it takes is the will to succeed and the attitude that no matter what you find, you’ll be able to repair it. Replicating those sieve frames was a project in itself. Thanks for the video!

That took some real dedication to rebuild those sieves. I had it easy with my little Massey-Harris last fall.

@@Digginok It seems to be in quite good condition. I like it do to ease on moving, not being over width. Just curious, I haven’t watched a lot of your videos but how did the farming enter the picture. For me it’s because I grew up on a small dairy farm. And of course I like anything old with an engine on it!

@@oldamericaniron5767 I grew up on a small cow calf wheat farm, summers were spent harvesting wheat with a couple of 95 deeres, and a 55 if it would run. We had around 500-1000 acres of wheat most years. Seems we worked on the combines as mulch as we ran them.

@@Digginok For me it was a 140 acre, 35 cow farm and it supported my folks and 10 children. My Dad first had a Massey pull type Clipper and then a used Massey 60 self-propelled so the little Massey was irresistible. Great memories!

Be sure to check the walkers are still running free next harvest. I found that when i fitted new bearings on my model A Gleaner the wood swelled up over winter and gripped the shaft tight. I had to put stims between halfs to free it off.

I always engage the threshing clutch on low revs the gentle when reving the engine up. When i disengage combine i do if on full revs then slow engine down. I find this puts much less stress on the clutch and working parts.

It's hard to find rivets, I think Fastenal may have them. In the carburetors on case tractors they have what are called "cheese head screws" they are tough to find.

Well you old fart you did it!! That old girl has been sweet talked..! That's awesome...! You've still got the touch. I am impressed.. Not a problem you knew those belts were not long of this world. Stuff some new ones on and give her another chance, she'll work for you.. Just a suggestion here but don't go out again until you put a fire extinguisher on your entry ladder. Don't take any chances till You have the bugs worked out of her... This is completely a success! Nothing that works is stupid... You are going to have to replace those Fan blades get more air volume but I can't believe you did it..!! Congratulations!!
