He’s ok. Ridiculous or insane is a stretch. I like his humbleness and positive energy tho. If I were to rate his skill level I would give him a solid 7/10; somewhat good or great.

@@rah7207 no what’s weird is to say that a good musician is insanely talented. Do we not know what these terms mean anymore? So you mean to tell me that Isaac is on the same level as Cory Henry, Sean Wilson, Glen Gibson Jr., Josh Orr, Jayden Arnold, Jacob Collier, Rodney East, Damian Sneed, Jamar Jones or Quennel Gaskin? These are people that have earned to be called “Insane” or “ridiculous” or “mind blowing“ or “🔥x1000“.

The passing chords in the IV I V vi sequence in the key of A are (I think) D A E F#m | D A/C# E (C#/F) F#m (Em7 A/C#) | DM7. Passing chords he is using are secondary dominants. It's a great way to add color to your progressions if you use them sparingly (except in gospel where they could be used abundantly).

It is great to be able to make the progression richer and less boring as you say but to tell the truth, concerning worship, the simpler the better for me, I do prefer how the boring way sounds for some reason. Can’t explain why but I do.

That's about what I'd do... not bad! Sometimes, depending on the song, I'll double the melody during the second phrasing, along with the embellishments.. if it's right for the worship moment. Passing chords- good! :)

Nothing is boring during worship even if it's just some few chord when you have FAITH and LOVE in what you do. If God is real for you, and you are in His presence, you won't feel BORED. When you are courting or trying to win someone and talking for like how many hours in the phone or thru messaging, do you feel bored? of course not!

Hello people, I am a self-taught pianist, I play at our church, kind of a one-man band ...playing both beats and piano for the worship sessions. I would love to grow to state where I can play worship music/slow songs with such dexterity, sweetness and smoothness. Can someone like share with me a practice routine that can get my ear and fingers improvising this fast randomly in good time.? I am majorly a guitar player so I am conversant with music theory.

This is not playing another chord progression, this is just coloring in the chords AKA playing more notes. So, I would advise playing passing chords and adding subdominants.

What do the numbers refer to when he's talking about the chords? Playing it in 4-4-2, and 6-5-4-1?
@tkendrick5319

It represents the ordered chord in the scale… eg in the key of C 1 = C 2 = Dm 3 = Em 4 = F 5 = G 6 = A 7 = Bdim 4-4-2 = F - F - Dm

Thanks multiple times. As a piano player I can not play THAT many notes in the band setting. My instrument is not leading most of time and also the way you played would most likely not allow much room for other instruments in band setting, don't you think? And as far as I understand, you used inversions and fillers (or walking chords, for the lack of a better explanation) sometimes, but I would use that technique more. Also. It makes a whole lot of a difference if you use octaves or thirds or triads... Also from what I have heard, you "jazzed" or "souled" the chords up in between. Nice move. I need to see how to copy that technique more into band setting, when all the other instruments are playing the "straight" chords...
@C_Vigy
@C_Vigy Жыл бұрын
try extensions like 9 (basically 2 but higher octave), 11 (4 but higher octave), and 13th (6 but higher octave) chords. this create more of those "jazzy soul" chords, ex: Cmaj79, G7 9 11 13, Am9. about your band setting, i think it's okay to have a bit of "lick" going on like how they play in this video, but don't always do it every time you changed chords. i know the struggle of really wanted to play that many notes and also learn inversions, it's not hard, just need some new habits.
