The Sunderland-based firm, Hays Travel, has begun a massive recruitment exercise to take on former Thomas Cook staff.
It has also bought all the former Thomas Cook travel shops - more than five hundred of them.
Hays completed the acquisition of the stores late last night - and opened a phone line for job applicants this morning.
Thomas Cook went into liquidation last month - with the loss of nine thousand jobs, across the UK.
