Probably the best keeper performance against Sunderland I have ever seen. Bosnich was unbelievable 🔴⚪🔴⚪

Villa were superb in the final, played that great Man Utd side off the park

This was a bit before my time but just been watching a Villa podcast where they're interviewing Tony Daley and he mentioned this game, Bosnich being ridiculous and Villa scoring almost every time they broke forward.

I remember that game, or I remember Bosnich anyway. He was unbelievable.

best goalkeeping performance I have ever seen from Bosnich

Dalian`s first goal was almost arrogant. Dispatched with casual aplomb. Only Merson could use the outside of the boot so brilliantly. Dalian could/shold have gone on to better things, but he was mercurial.

I knew there was a reason I hated Bosnich this game had me tearing my hair out, never seen anything like it.

This was funny. They murdered us but we won 4-1. Houghton scored with his 1st touch when he came on I think. Quality cup run!

Well we were outplayed for the entire match, Bosnich was the difference that night, he was great until he went off to Man United. But yeah the very few chances we had we took them well. But had we not had Bosnich in goal Sunderland would have been in the next round without doubt.

I'll never know how we won this 4-1 after watching the whole match back. We should have been 4 down at least by half time.

Bosnich's best ever season, in my opinion. Certainly in a Villa shirt.

Amazingly Bosnich's best save isn't here. There was a looping header from Armstrong in the first half that he somehow clawed away. Amazing.

The win that never was! 1-4 just doesn't tell the complete story, after Sunderland threw everything bar the kitchen sink at Villa. And had it not been for a super-human display v Villa keeper Mark Bosnich, who tended to defy not only the laws of gravity, but maybe one or two other branches of science, then we'd have surely progressed further in The Coca-Cola Cup. But in all truth, despite being outplayed, Villa did give us a lesson in the art of effective counter-attacking/finishing, and while the win seemed unjust, we'd later have the consolation of knowing that we'd been beaten by the eventual winners, whose Wembley win thus denied Manchester United an historic "treble" ....
