That road has changed dramatically over the years since the Sunflower fire. Many years ago I did that trail to the mine in a stock 2002 Silverado. There used to be many things to see at the mine but the fire destroyed most of it.

I hate that rock shelf on the west side of the creek bed coming from the southern part of the path closest to the bridge. It's different every time. Last time I though I snagged my transfer case - Nope, but found some aluminum from someone else's there. The path down to the mine is also sketchy - there's that one dip on the south side (on the left going to the mine). I've always felt like I'm going to roll if it keeps getting washed out... last time I didn't risk it.

I'm so impressed the stuff you take that maverick through. I had one and it was so dangerous! I laid it on its side not even doing anything crazy, tire just got in a pot hole and sent it on the side both times before I added the wheel spacers. After the wheel spacers the ride was better, but I know what you're talking about with the clutching, I hated the way the maverick drove. I'm so glad I traded it for a KRX 1000. The suspension is like a Cadillac and the clutch is better.

Maybe look into aftermarket clutch kits. I had a kit tailored to optimize low end torque for my CFMoto Zforce 800 - different weights, spring & multi angle helix.

I have been researching options and haven't decided if a lockup modification is a better way to go over a clutch kit or maybe we do both at the same time. We will be taking apart the clutch to inspect it soon.

@@NewZonaRides If by lockup you mean the front diff, I've read / seen the visco-lock front diff is not very good, seems lots of peeps swap it to a real locking differential. The CFMoto machines are jerky when clutch engages. Everyone raves about the kits they are getting from a particular vendor, "butter smooth" clutch engagement 🙂. My dealer is installing my clutch kit and full skid plate kit next week 😁

@calvinhobbes3360 I was referring to a mod for the Can Am Commander that locks the inner and outtter sheeves of the primary clutch. It makes the clutch lock the belt at all times. I will then most likely add a light clutch spring and weights. That way, it engages at a lower speed. Let me know what you think of the new clutch kit when you get it back.

I took my 08 Arctic Cat 1000 atv up this trail, sadly only made it half way and had to turn around. Really good views though. Do you have more video?

I was planing on taking my sportsman, how come you turned around. Is the trail to rough for a quad ?

@@tonyman5417 There was a really narrow spot on the trail that I just wasn't able to get up and over. That was years ago, I'm sure the terrain has changed many times over. Good or bad I don't know because unfortunately I don't live in Arizona anymore.

I am debating weather to take my quad or SxS to do this trail. Would a sportsman 850 stock will make it. Otherwise I can take the KRX and just cruise. Thanks for any input.

It depends on your riding ability. A quad can make it but it's not easy. Shouldn't go alone for sure. Cancel Reply

I just rode this trail on my 2wd 1984 TRX200, its doable but for me i had to go counterclockwise because i couldn't go up the last big obstacle before the mine. I could go down it just fine tho.
