You must get Best Ending because Solo & Duo endings are pointless, because Exeller states that every time he kills someone, his teleportation radius expands. And it just so happens that one of Tails, Knuckles, & Eggman's deaths give Exeller access to the Mountain Peak (AKA where the characters are teleported if their routes are completed,) so no matter what, if say Tails & Knuckles survive, but Eggman dies, when Tails and Knuckles get teleported to Mountain Peak, Exeller will literally quote on quote "kill the stragglers offscreen."

This is also expanded upon Round 2 because Sonic doesn't need to specifically kill them to get to Mountain Peak since he can kill the girls (Amy/Cream) instead
