To mark Sunil's birthday we decided to share this precious video of him seeing his 65th birthday song for the first time. It was a surprise and he had no clue so many musicians had come together to create this song for him. Happy birthday to our legend!

Although no more, Sunil Perera is the only one - to me - whose death does not give rise to the feeling that the person is actually gone 🤔🤔 This could be due to his ability to captivate any audience in no time, thanks to his: Powerful voice, Originality of accent, Simplicity of his way of life The legend’s departure does not create that sad / missing feeling - a stark contrast with other passed-away artists when watching their renditions, after they have passed away; a totally unexplainable, weird feeling 😶 Dear Sunil, you are not missed, because ‘you are not gone’ 😊 R.I.P. = Rocking into Party-mode

I always believe that love and appreciation must be shown while we are among the living. Such a beautiful tribute to a living Legend. I can't get over the look of happiness and contentment in his face. Such an Amusing entertainer . A beautiful and loving family. May his family find the courage to face the future to live in Sunil's love and be inspired by his legacy. My heart felt condolences to the family. May he rest in eternal peace 💕.

Ane see the facial expression when his dear brother Piyal's words in the song and his two sons..what a beloved brother and father he would be.. If we miss him not even without not knowing him personally, I can just imagine how his family would be experiencing at this time..

When he left it felt as if a part of our life which kept us entertained since our childhood were taken from us.... I suggest Gypsies if a Sunil Perera Day can be established every year thus we can commemorate, reminisce and celebrate him because he wanted everyone to be happy and enjoy life in peace....

He had always been such a tremendous inspiration for me musically....I still haven't come to terms with the fact that he is no more.. I was only 4 when "Ojaye" came out and used to be hooked on it back then (still do)... Even our birthdays are just three days apart (mine on Sep. 11).....He will be in our hearts forever...😢🖤

I had the privilege of bringing Gypsies to Bangladesh for a show organized by Sri-Lanka Association of Bangladesh. I still remember great moments we shared during his short stay in Bangladesh. You were so simple down to earth and extremely friendly personality and a deep respect for you Sir.

By looking at this I don't think uncle Sunil had a single regret of his life whatsoever, he lived it well, enjoyed it well and also kept generations entertained! What makes me sad is that there will never be another like him! I believe this sorrow will spread equally for everyone who loved him including his family. This is for the one and only Sunil Aiya!!! Rest easy hero! ❤

A true Legend of Sri Lanka, a Legend amongst Legends!!! A SRI LANKAN GREAT has chimes his last philosophical note, but one day in retrospect when historian study mother Lanka the Music of this man and the forthright and downright messages he delivered would be gazed upon with Shakespearean appreciation; simple, comic lyrics but with meaning so profound it was divine. Mother Lanka sheds a painful tear for one of her Best. May you rest in peace amogst the epitheatre of Musical genuineness of the past, above in Heaven.
