'Contour' is just a screwy name for a midrange control. I have a Sunn Sceptre, which I've done some work to. Yeah, it's just a midrange.

Sure. It just doesn't seem to have has wider range as others I've used. It doesn't get silly in the extremes. Great amps though right? How long you had yours?

@@FretSuccess Hmm, about twenty years. I liked it initially, but didn't totally love it. Then I learned tube electronics and realized that Sunns of this vintage are really bass amps (same circuit just with reverb and tremolo), so I modified mine to turn it into a proper guitar amp. Now it's my absolute favorite.

@@totallyunmemorableive played bass through my solarus and it's fucking amazing. But i also love playing guitar through bass amps so to me it's the holy grail. Kinda like a bassman but tighter

Lots. I'll impart just this one: Disconnect the yellow (negative feedback) wire from the output jack. This will greatly relieve the tonal constipation Sunns suffer from.@@serginhosena
