To those who say it is hard to condense Kalki’s story into a few hours as a movie: there are quite a few theatrical dramas on the original Ponniyin Selvan that have been produced and presented “live” where the screen play is TRUE to the original story!!! IN three hours’ time!!! Dialogues were superbly written and delivered “live” on stage. Excellent presentations!

3) Some time back the key major characters in the movie, KARTHICK SHIVAKUMAR, his family (namely his father Shiva Kumar, brother Surya & his wife Jothika, all r into Cinema field too ) said it's better ppl divert their valuable funds towards constructive activities like building of schools or hospitals instead of wasting it on Temples, meaning the Tanjore Periyakovil, and see a co star of Karthick Shivakumar, Mr. Chiyan: Vikram, trying to suggest ppl to cherish the values of the temples and take pride in the great work done by our ancestors and actively discouraging them to not compare it with other such ancient structures in the world like PYRAMIDS in Egypt, So my question is does the director of the movie Mr. Mani Rathnam & key artist like Karthick Shivakumar share the views aired by Mr. Chiyan Vikram too ??! 🫣

படத்தில் music அதிகமா தெரிகிறது. அதாவது கை தட்டும் சத்த்ம், சண்டையின் போது வரும் background music...நிறைய இடத்தில் music இல்லாமல் வசனம் மட்டும் இருந்தால் போதுமா இருந்திருக்கும்! அடுத்த பாகத்தில் குறைத்து background இருக்கணும் pls!

2) A character in the movie says "NARAYANA" (Hindu GOD ) in every given situation in all languages being a pan national movie (Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannad) but the same had been replaced with *Ayyo" a word when it comes to the Tamil Version of the Movie. When the same was highlighted by reporters during film promotional event, the director Mr. Mani, instead of giving a explanation said that shall be corrected during release. That doesn't stop ppl from wondering or contemplating a probable logical explanation for such a region & language biased discrimination for Tamil version of the Movie alone!! 🤔

Genuine Concerns : 1) initially none of the characters in this epic had any religious symbols/ connotations displayed as per reports & when the same was highlighted & widely debated in social media, looks like the production team was taken aback by the kind & gravity of negative impact that had generated among native Indians & hence was forced to recreate those same characters with religious touch if I may say, probably to neutralise & preempt the potential adverse consequence (economic) 🙄 !!

This is Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan. Not Kalki's. PS1 screen play changes have changed the characterization of many characters. Mani Ratnam need not have changed the story line. But he chose to. He could have given different title and different character names instead of kalki's title and Kalki's characters' names/appearances/costumes .

Why we could not make iconic scenes like Troy (say Achilles killing the large man). Each segment of Troy will be remembered for ever. Be it dialogues between the brothers or the brother and father or hector and his wife. Achilles and that small boy . Achilles and the temple woman. i can go on with the list. Wished PS1 was like that. But yet I m happy that the novel made its way to tamil movie.

In Tamil - Ponniyin Selvan - written long years back by KALKI is a parasiti petra veerakaviyam Heroicis and the great tamil naval is now be viewed with bramandam in theatrical screening. Planning to enjoy it in Big screen with family shortly as it is our right / don't want to miss as I feel viewing this tamil movie PS1 is like casting our votes in election. The only difference my 5 year old grandson is also eager to cast his vote.
