one thing i love abt hollyleafs characterization in this book is how, unlike lionblaze and jayfeather, she NEVER wonders/asks herself who killed ashfur. jay and lion speculate on it bc they dont know, but hollyleaf doesnt NEED to bc she already knows. prior to the reveal, every time she thinks abt who killed ashfur, she only wonders what would happen if anyone was accused/took the blame, but at no point does she ever actually ask herself who could have done it. its a subtle bit of writing that i always liked, speaking as someone who went into the book with the reveal already spoiled for me.

It bugged me so much back in the day when Jayfeather and Lionblaze immediately started thinking about the bloody prophecy immediately after Hollyleaf's death. I'd gone through this whole arc with the trio going on about the prophecy continuously and it felt so callous that they stopped paying attention to their own sister's death because WHOO PROPHECY'S STILL ON!

Finally, someone is pointing out how Leafpool treated Jayfeather. She always takes out the bitterness of her decision to mate with Crowfeather out on him. When he’s upset about his situation, she tells him to shut up and get over it. Despite being a disabled cat.. forced into training as a medicine apprentice by Starclan. It’s wrong no and I’ll say borderline abusive no matter how dirty Starclan did Leafpool.

I always like looking at alternative Warriors history and imagine what of would be like if say Hawkfrost and Mothwing left with Sasha before they left the forest, or if Hollyleaf indirectly killed Leafpool and she ate the deathberries. Make a person wonder.

I remember being so excited to read this after getting it on the release day. I remember really liking the outsider cats and I wish they got more screentime in omen of the stars. I just really like the outsiders

This has always been my favorite Warriors book, it may not be the best but this was One of the Only books I had at my dads to reread over and over and the ending section of this book with all the heavy emotions really hits me hard and makes me feel Oddly nostalgic due to how much I’ve read it P.s. Hollyleaf the goat haha

I won't go into how feel about what happened in this book, as there were a lot of problems within the Sol mystery plot specifically that weren't mentioned, but I'd like to propose an alternate ending that would have tied everything together. Sol would've had more of a role in the book, being the one to take advantage of Hollyleaf's guilt and insecurities to convince her to reveal her mothers' secret and feed Leafpool deathberries in a plot to take over the clans. Jayfeather and Lionblaze would together to stop this, and, when she's defeated, Hollyleaf would declare herself a "powerless curse" to the clans before dying. It wouldn't be clear whether she had powers or not, but her actions and death would leave a lasting impact on her brothers. Lionblaze would ultimately decide to reject his powers and the prophecy because he figures it wouldn't be worth it to try to figure out a purpose for them knowing how dangerous and fruitless their efforts proved to be, and then goes on to try to live the life of normal warrior cat. Jayfeather, meanwhile, would continue to hold on to his faith, with the hope that someday, they would find the true third and fulfill the prophecy, which is why he gets so excited when recalls that Whitewing's kits are their kin. The paths the brothers would choose to take would then set the course for their arcs in Omen of the Stars, with the conflict being whether Jayfeather is right, and whether he can convince Lionblaze to carry on with the prophecy.

Did we ever get a Firestar POV from what happened, like the scandal with his daughters, his grandchildren's upheaval, and his granddaughter trying to skunk his daughter, like seriously, we don't get anything on how he was feeling emotionally about all this. Like I get that the Erin's can't get every little detail in each book, but you would think the drama surrounding the most important character in the whole series family would have been showcased just a bit more 🤷

I remembering reading Power of Three from the local library and they didn't have this book, so I skipped it and went straight to The Forth Apprentice. Needless to say, I was upset and shocked about Hollyleaf for sure. I had to look up spoilers and stuff, and finally looped around and read this book years later. But that's not as bad as reading the first half of the New Prophecy in 2014 and the second half in 2021.

I actually love Yellowfang in this ark. She tried so hard to tell the three the truth, knowing that hiding it from her son hurt him in some ways, but instead they had to find out in such a horrible way. I'm glad she finally said screw it and revealed who their dad was. It's not like she was saying Squirrelflight was a bad mom (she was so desperate for her to raise the kits that she lied) but she knows how much the three wanted the truth. Too bad she goes to shit in OoTS but at least she wasn't one of the hypocrites in Squirelflight's trail (she was the one who called everyone else)
