I too own a sunroof car and all the points which you said is true. I own the car for more than 3 years and I have used the sunroof not more than 10 times.. I too wash my car the same way you wash your car even I have the same feeling that the sunroof is not cleaned properly from the inside.

@@dhineshdukeboy4293 From my experience what I would say is , no need sunroof.. You will use the sunroof only for the first 2 months after that it is of no use. If you park your vehicle in the sun or mostly outside please do not buy a car with sunroof.. My next car is going to be without sunroof. Even my 5 year old daughter does not care about the sunroof , most of the time we forget that there is a sunroof in our car..

Many times you may miss other features if you try to avoid sunroof. In reality sunroof is not useful feature. Automatic head lamp also no use.

I have 2021 Verna SXO, that has a sunroof. The thing I enjoy about the sunroof is that it makes the cabin feel more spacious and airy. I don’t open the sunroof much but I do leave the blinds of the sunroof open 90% of the time, except when I drive in the afternoons. I personally enjoy the airy feeling. With respect to the cabin heat, I have installed 3M CR70 glass tint on the front windshield and sunroof, 3M RE50 on the windows and rear windshield (the legal tint levels allowed as per norm), and I must say, it definitely helps in keeping the car much cooler and the cabin is quickly chilled and the AC usually runs on auto settings set to 22° or 24°C, and blower is at speed 1 or max 2, 95% of the times. PS : didn’t choose the top end for sunroof , My primary needs where stable car, 6 air bags and I love the ventilated seats. My preference is always a Sedan and it finally came down to Verna or City, ended up buying the Verna (cause it looked better, and ventilated seats is a very underrated feature and the City didn’t have it) Had it been today, would have easily picked the Virtus.

Very true. Except for the initial excitement it serves no purpose. I have used many vehicles in the USA but for couple of times never used the sun/moon roof. When open its too noisy too. Definitely a feature that's not required for our country. If Consumers are given an option in variants with and without sun/moon roof, it would be great. It also poses a danger in high speeds when children try to pop out of this roof as small rocks or debris could hit them on the face. In India safety is the last priority.

R&D and material investment required to engineer it is high. That's the reason, most Hatchbacks doesn't have it

Same with me. I currently drive Mitsubishi Outlander in Canada. I have hardly used sun roof: 3-4 times in its lifetime. Thankfully outlander comes with a sliding inline false roof. If not for this, heat/cold insulation would have been even poorer.

Yes. U R CORRECT. MIDDLE CLASS FAMILY CAN BETTER AVOID SUNROOF. IN PLAINS, NORMAL TOWN AND CITY IT CAN NOT BE USED, ONLY IN HILL STATIONS IT CAN BE USED ONCE IN A WHILE. I USED TO SEE PEOPLE ENJOYING SUNROOF IN MUNNAR , HIGH RANGES. IT CERTAINLY REDUCES THE SAFETY ASPECT IN HILL AREAS . THANKS FOR YOUR TOPIC.

You have exactly reflected thoughts of middle class family person like me. As a kid from small town I always had a dream of having a car with sunroof but reality was having a car itself was impossible at that time. Now I am capable of spend more to buy a car that satisfy my daughter’s expectations (not a dream for her😊). I spent 3 lakhs additionally to get sunroof in Carens. I don’t regret spending extra money as my daughter enjoys a lot. Also on a cool or rainy day we can realise the actual enjoyment of having a sunroof. I agree with the point that sunroof is not an essential feature.

SUNROOF is an emotion, continue arguing for even 2 more hours. I think its a pride and enjoying very much in hills (Kodaikanal,panri malai, idukki, any cloudy day...). I recently bought JAZZ ZX CVT (Mainly for sunroof) ... Our family enjoys on windy cloudy days we open and enjoy the natural breeze. It makes as feel the car is spacious. (in last ten years I had Civic then superb now A6 currently). VFM (Money) is not everything. If anyone feels to have sunroof never ever miss it and you will feel for rest of the car life....! CONS: It may increase cabin noise slightly. P.S. I like all your videos and how you explain.

Absolutely the excitement of sunroof would only last for few days and it is not really required for the weather conditions we have in the Indian subcontinent. However because Children & Women like it, many people go for it. Hence, for car manufacturers, it is good option to provide variants with and without sunroof to capture more customers. If you classify the features into "Must Have" and "Nice to have", Sun roof is always a Nice-to-have feature but not a Must-Have feature.

Daivam boss neenga, you are 100% right about Hector. My first choice was XL6, only due to family pressure I moved my choice to Hector. literally spent 9L extra for one point "Sunroof".

@@arv1ndgr I got it newly, yes you are right, we use to just open the blinds. Nostalgic feeling is reduced due to sunroof. My kids and my wife use to vomit in long drives. Now it is completely stoped. This is one of the plus with pan atomic sunroof.

Honda city 4th gen even without sun roof is a best choice... when it comes to a sedan..if people were clear on this particular sunroof matter they don't have to go to 5th gen city..

If you are kind of person.. mostly driving car with ac off windows roll down (in non highways), then sunroof will give additional air circulations. And it also feel like extra roomy. But provided the variant satisfies user requirement, upon that if sunroof is added then we can consider it. 👍

I was perplexed between Honda City V CVT and VX MT as both are almost the same price. About to compromise CVT over sunroof feature... But hearing your Motocast, I feel automatic transmission should be my priority when driving in a city like Bangalore and least bother Sunroof due to its less usage after buying. AC cooling is reduced when sunroof is opened and not safe for remote road side, chance of hitting by tree branches.

Well said sir. Great discussion. Customers are not getting a choice but still want a top end without a sunroof given our climate and conditions and open marking and maintenance of sunroof is a burden … vehicle manufacturers should give a choice without sunroof but a top end

DRLs feature too is useful only in hill stations and foggy conditions (which geographically and weather wise is only 10% utility value). Not required for other locations and sunny weather conditions. It's a drain on the power.

No. DRLs are usually LEDs and should be LEDs if it’s not the case in your car. LEDs don’t drain much power and when the engine is running, it basically has no impact on the power drawn. DRLs main purpose to identify that a vehicle is in motion and DRLs helps a lot to judge the speed of the oncoming vehicle. A light approaching you is easier to judge than an object with no visual cue whether it is in motion. Don’t undermine the ability of a DRL. DRLs are now mandatory and it is very essential SAFETY feature. To realise its potential, look at a vehicle approaching you with DRL and the one without, you can definitely judge the speed of the vehicle with lights on better. My motorbike, 2016 RS200 doesn’t have AHO (the DRLs are way to dim), but I manually keep my lights on so the vehicles approaching me can see me better, judge me better and drive/ride better.

@@RavinMohanraj Thanks for the knowledge sharing. My car doesn't have DRL. But my scooter (all two wheelers offlate) has its headlight on all the time (and it's not a LED) hence my comment. I own a 2019 Suzuki access125 scooter.

@@Tully70 Yep, most two wheelers have AHO where the headlamps are always on. Don’t worry, it won’t impact your battery. The light might worn out sooner but it is a good safety feature.

Correct MotoWagon. . User might get his variant at 12lac. .but sunroof will be available in 22lac top variant. If he is rich enough to buy. Then it's fine. But middle class people will go for loan and buying is not a good choice. . .

Skoda cleverly gives customer Slavia(Non-Sunroof Version in Style variant). Clever move.. Still Rapid/Vento are the cars still nails the basics of a car. What's needed more than that. Even the manufacturer felt the car is outdated because of the competition.

Very simple suggestion : - Focus on Safety features first , second focus on day to day useful features which will be comfortable for driving and finally cosmetic features.

Sunroof's name speaks. A sunroof is needed in areas where sunlight is very low, like in mountain areas. Very simple. Not needed in a sunny region. Make a wise decision and Save Money.

Back in the day, Opel Astra was the only car with Sunroof feature! But people weren't much aware at that time. Then Chevrolet Optra came in 2005 and the brand ensured to promote this feature on TV Ads as luxury feature. That was starting time of this Sunroof trend and others brands didn't miss to address it.

I have Nexon with Sunroof. I use it every time I hit the road. It's just a habit to make use of it. In early morning or late in evening I open the board to let some extra light. In rainy day, we enjoy the view. Whenever I start my car after parking on hot sun, run the AC for 2 minutes with Sunroof opened, the heat exits quickly. At last cleaning the roof of car was never easy 🙂

நான் இருப்பது வளைகுடா நாட்டில் நீண்ட நாளாக பயன்படுத்தாமல் இருந்த sunroof ஐ எனது மகன் ஒரு நாள் திறந்து விட்டான். மூடுவதற்கு முயலும்போது மோட்டார் ஜாம் ஆகி விட்டது. இரவு நேரம் மெக்கானிக்கிடம் செல்ல முடியவில்லை. குளிர் இரவில் மழை தூறல் இருந்த நாளில் நிகழ்ந்த சம்பவம். இரவில் உட்புறம் மழையில் நனையாமல் இருக்க நான் பட்ட பாடு 😢😢.

I love sunroof. I use it everyday evening. I have 7 seater alcazar. I didn’t buy it just for my kid. I don’t open the roof .I just open the blind so that it lets in more light in the cabin. It gives a good feel for ppl who sit in the back seat. It’s too good for 7 seater where the 3rd seat passenger doesn’t feel claustrophobic.well I understand it’s not an essential feature but I won’t say it’s totally useless.

kids do enjoy sunroof a lot. Parents can take care of ensuring safety when kid wants to look out of sunroof. If small kids are not there then sunroof usage will obviously be less

It is a very useful takeaway for a car buyer regarding prioritising sunroof as features of a car, prior buying. I would keep sunroof at a low priority considering its high liability in a long run. In Alcazar only sunroof car available !! , for small family occasional 7 seater , regular 5 seater as per your view Alcazar is the best premium luxury car..im forced to go for sunroof for indian climate. Thanks for your useful videos

Really very nice conversation MW but the kids satisfaction we exchange creta to seltos only purpose of sunroof, we still used when travel hills it’s amazing experience for kids mean time mentioned when open sunroof don’t drive over speeds we used maxim 40km speeds

Think about opening the sunroof pad (not the glass) and drive during evenings/rainy/hill stations etc which gives additional joy on our travels. Ofcourse it's a luxury feature but cannot be ruled out as totally unwanted.. we should know how to use it..!!!

Sunroof is a joke in a country like India. It's very unfortunate that it's being forced upon the customers who don't prefer it, but want to buy a higher variant.

More features more probability of repairs. Sunroofs are a feature which can cause more problems than comfort. You cannot use and listen audio inside city when you are driving, because it can disturb your concentration. More and more features are like songs in a movie, they do not help success. Quality was first defined as ' Fitness for use" So as you are frequently telling first define your requirements. Then look for features.

What we need to look at are benefits and not features. Cars may be loaded with features and they may not give benefits (what we value). For instance I don’t value the benefit of keyless entry, push button start and indicators in OVRMS. A simple rear view mirror just costs about 2500 but the one with indicators, motorized will cost a lot.

I've had 2 cars and one currently with a completely retractable sunroof.. hardly used it. Main problem was dust, noisy and discomfort at higher speeds.. 80 Kph and above.

True sir ...Sunroof is a esteem need. Even we have Touch Screen infotainment apart from picking up the call we are not using effectively. In Day to today life 85 percentage people is listing to FM which is solved by 2din or basic audio system

Hi, I wish to buy a Tata Nexon diesel top model with a ventilated seat, but the sun/moon roof comes without my choice. If the top model, come without sun/moon roof, hope I can save 20 to 25k. Car manufacturers have to give the option to choose the features by the buyer with their requirements in top models.

It was a joy for our family kids when we purchased venue with sunroof. They enjoyed a lot during our hill station trips. It was useful to take videos on our Himalayan trips too. But after watching this video I am thinking when we opened the sunroof recently. Just get inside the venue and opened the sunroof after a looooong time. 😁

It can use only evening short trips. But the problem is most of the manufacturers added sunroof with other essential features. So we no way to avoid it similar like automatic head lamp feature which really no use. But automatic viber is really helpful, which I thought no use when I bought it. It changing the speed according to the rain speed.

Thanks for this video,Team!! And another point especially when it comes to the Panaromic sunroofs,it can crank up the heat in cabin more than anything.. Also the sunroofs explodes even in a premium cars like Mercedes and bmw.. How come Indian car manufacturers dealing with this problem with our most heated climatic conditions comparing to US and Europe?? And what about the budget cars like creta and harrier,How are they managing the build quality of sunroofs with lower price segment? Please make a video for it ,if possible!

As usual, better examples and good conversation. You guys are rocking( Teaching). This video shown a different perspective and more information on sunroof. As you pointed some required features, in my perspective you missed auto viper and rear viper for hatchbacks too. Frankly to say I am guy who used the irvm frequently to watch video. Since altroz has rear viper and bigger alloy ( this is the only reason I choose top end. Because in user review I heard altroz rear is dust magnet) while purchasing.. but sales representative pointed only few features like auto headlamp, cruise control etc. Pls do a video on what are the primary feature to consider and cosmetic features. This will help most of the viewers to help on identifying their requirement properly #motofam

Sunroof superb discussion but unable to enjoy myself because, I think as a feature and Pride when I bought KIA SELTOS HTX IVT. But in reality in past 3 months we simply showed it to the guest only. And in future it may be a liability. 🤔

Very good topic of discussion I was looking for a car of choice with sunroof coz my kid would love it. A feature existent which would fade away in due course-ugly truth I would rather go for a safety car over a featured car You must have earned car manufacturers hatred Kindly make more podcasts on what is expected from car n what not this will surely help to choose a car Even a celiro would be best deal breaker if we know what is to be expected form a car Thank you God bless all

I own a sunroof car, one of the less used after couple of use. Water leakage is always back of mind while cleaning and rains.

Let me correlate my real life experience on how a rightly positioned product is more valuable and influenced my purchase decision with regards to sun roof Booked an AX5 Diesel AT XUV700.This car had a sun roof.But, missed keyless entry, cruise control also other Essential features on 23 lakh car road. Now, due to continuous price hiked by mahindra, car price already increased heavily. Cancelled my booking due to my personal financial constraints.When i went to kia, i was able to find a perfect variant where i needed Diesel automatic, keyless entry ,.cruise control but no sun roof - HTK+ Diesel automatic Agreed no comparison can be made between a kia and xuv700, even after spending 23 lakhs this ax5 variant in xuv misses useful features. This is where right variant split is required. Koreans - kia and hyundai always have a variant for every buyer. Whereas mahindra wants everyone to buy the AX7 only which costs a bomb...
