These short commercials, compiled here, were the first shown after a week or so of only "PSA (Public Service Announcements) following the tragedies of 3/11/2011. This song means so much to the Japanese, it was bonding and heartfelt. All the more so as many of these beloved actors, writers, comedians, etc. are NOT known as singers. They sing with their hearts, knowing their voices are not being judged. Honestly, it is impossible to watch this, even now, without crying...

Today(August 12, 2022) is the 37th anniversary after the death of Kyu Sakamoto. I found on KZfaq his last voice and singing before his tragic death on the same day. The public recording of NHK-FM radio ''Song Special - Kyu Sakamoto'' occurred in the afternoon August 12. 1985. Kyu-san was the host and main singer of the show. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/os96daRpqau1nXU.html The same kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ja6qjcZ0nbjUcqc.html Too tragically and sadly, Kyu-san died in a terrible airplane crash only a few hours later from the radio show. Thank You! Thank You!! Kyu-san!!! for your beautiful songs and your countless gentle, brilliant smiles!!!!! R.I.P

I cry every time I watch this because of what happened at Fukushima. I've been to Japan a few times and if you ever go there and meet these people and how polite and respectful of others the Japanese people are, you would weep too. It hurts me still.

I can't speak any Japanese yet I feel sad. Not because I can't speak any language but English, but I feel like each language has a great respect and distinct definition of speech. There's passion in their words and I wish I knew what they feel when they sing.
