According to folk legend, Saint Quy Minh Dai Vuong is one of three brothers - three generals who have been canonized as saints (Saint Tan Vien, Saint Cao Son and Saint Quy Minh), who had the merit of defending the Son mountain pass. In the past, when local people's lives were still difficult, this area was deep in the mountains, with many wild animals. People came here to collect firewood and hunt animals, very afraid of these ferocious animals.
At that time, they believed very much in the virtue and epiphany of the saint Quy Minh Dai Vuong. King Dinh built this temple with the purpose of borrowing the prestige of the Saint to control the four directions East, West, South, and North of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu.
