@@juliansmith4352 oh, no argument there. I think there were games that summerall called when he was totally shit faced. I'd still take him over joe buck. John Madden got a lot of flack for how he announced. But here's why he's great; he could explain a play so that a five year old(me) knew what the hell was going on. They both played and coached, too. That's a big part. Look at the 1990 nfc championship game at the end, they had a long shot of Matt Bahr waiting, and he said "That's a lonely world, believe me " that's why he's great.

You could also say he was carried by a weaker conference putting 3 afc titles on his resume in the 80’s and he was a little lucky the 49ers didn’t win through in 97 and 98 as I think they would have been a much worse match up for him .
@christopherfoote46432 жыл бұрын
That's not accurate. The Orange Crush was established long before Elway came along and was instrumental to the cause. It's especially annoying given how well Craig Morton played in Elway's absence. Revisionist history at work. Elway made Denver better. But he wasn't carrying anyone.

Like I said that's balderdash. Denver was quite competent and actually quite competitive without Elway. Elway maybe made the difference as far as getting there but a championship is rarely about an individual. He was always so disappointing in the Super Bowl. Honestly I thought he wouldn't win it.

Would have given them a 20-9 lead and the Giants still would have done that 2nd half... so 39-30 would have been an epic score
@dannyboy3467710 ай бұрын
I think the one team that would’ve given the Giants the tougher matchup in Pasadena that year would’ve have been Cleveland. I say that because their secondary had two shutdown corners in Dixon and Minnefield. That being said, I think, in the second half, adjustments would’ve been made and the Giants would have beaten Cleveland the same way they would do v Denver in this game. Cleveland against that Giant defense would’ve had to depend on Bernie Kosar who was 23 at the time. And no Earnest Byner in the playoffs that would’ve been a detriment right there and you have Dickey and Fontenot as your Running game v a Giants D that allowed 69 yards total on the Ground in the NFC playoffs going in. Now, yes Cleveland did beat the Giants in the Meadowlands the year before, but in the Super Bowl, you give Parcells and Belichick two weeks to prepare and I think it would have been too much Giants, especially in the 2nd half and still would win going away.
