@@deadeye4520 The Cowboys were clearly the better team. Between 1991 and 1997 the Cowboys and the Steelers played each other four times, the Steelers lost all four times, each time by double digits. That onside kick in the 4th quarter was indicative of an inferior opponent scratching for every possible advantage they could muster. This was a tough one as a Steeler fan. You had the Cowboys at the tail end of their dynasty with 4 future Hall of Famers on offense versus an overachieving Steeler team with no stars on offense at all. The Steeler defense was very good though (2nd in the NFL) with a great LB corps (Kevin Greene, Greg Lloyd, Levon Kirkland, Chad Brown/Jerry O) + Rod Woodson (recovering from ACL tear) and Carnell Lake in the secondary. This was a classic "strength on strength" matchup (Dallas Offense vs Steelers Defense), which meant the other side of the ball (Dallas Defense vs Steelers Offense) would likely determine the game --- and boy did it. Two crushing unforced error interceptions when they had the momentum and had worn down the Dallas team on both sides of the ball ended up deciding it.
@dennismonk95592 жыл бұрын

@persona-non-grata2 жыл бұрын
@@davidpollard4051 True, but Levon Kirkland and others more than stepped up I think. If someone would have told me that Troy Aikman would have a pedestrian day and Emmitt Smith (during the best season of his career with 1773 rushing yards and 25 td's) would be held to 49 total yards on 25 carries, I would have said they were crazy. The Steelers shut down their offense the entire second half. It's just the interceptions + talent disparity between the Steelers O and Dallas D was a bit too much to overcome. But Dallas was the better team overall, there's no denying that. Better talent top to bottom and deserved to win. I can't be too salty because the Steelers would go on to win 2 more SB's in the next 13 years; while Dallas would *implode* and become a laughing stock in the NFC lol.

@Jon Brahms yup, & I'm on a 1st name basis with Bigfoot & the Kraken as well. I'm not sayin' O'Donnell took a dive on purpose for $$ 💰. HOWEVER, I'M ABSOLUTELY suggesting it as a possibility. He knew his time in the 'burgh was over. Why not go out w/an extra check JIC?? I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but c'mon now. 2 PASSES, SAME PLAYS/AREA'S OF THE FIELD, THAT JUST HAPPENED TO LAND IN LARRY BROWN'S HANDS WITH A BIG BLACK & GOLD TERRIBLE TOWEL FOR A BOW ON IT, W/OUT A STEELERS WR IN SIGHT?!? Neil hadn't thrown passes that well all season, yet he did it in less than 30min of play in SB XXX...TWICE!?! If it looks, walks & quacks like a duck, IT'S A DUCK!! We had 'em on the ropes after the onside kick. Dallas was goin' DAHN!!! But it's as if O'Donnell said, "guess I gotta do it again." Is it any coincidence that he left Pgh. for good, THE VERY NEXT DAY?!? I'm serious. He BOUNCED w/the quickness (& possibly a hefty check). There was a story back in '95 that when he was packing up his clan to leave Pgh. for good, people were driving past his home, yelling things like, "You suck Neil!! Don't come back!!" Someone even dumped their garbage on his lawn. Sad, but if that's not a sign of loyalty to all things '412,' I dunno what is, ha.🤔🖤💛✌️

@@dodoubleg2356 I have analyzed it. Go to the video of the complete game because that's what my time stamps refer to. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jMeCeK9psbmyXac.html. Watch the Steelers play at 1:55:09. This play occurs after the 2nd interception and the Cowboys going up 27-17. This is a completion to Corey Holliday who replaced Ernie Mills who was knocked out of the game by Larry Brown earlier in the 4th quarter. Compare this play to the 2nd interception by Larry Brown (at 1:49:08). It is the exact same play call by Pittsburgh. Corey Holliday (the replacement) RAN THE WRONG ROUTE on the interception play but got it right on the next series (at 1:55:09). There was no fix and nobody paying off O'Donnell.

@@dodoubleg2356 This Super Bowl took place on Jan. 28th 1996 so how could there be a story about him leaving Pittsburgh in '95?
@dodoubleg2356 Жыл бұрын
@@Bob31415 it was the '95 season genius...Now you're just nit-picking. I know it was 'Jan. '96 b/c I was at SB XXX in Arizona b/c I had season tickets.

Let’s ignore the illegal pick on the Novacek TD. Everyone saw it except all of the officials.
