I have 12 v motors on the wheels so can use 20 v battrey with 12 v motor?
@TractorHoarders
@TractorHoarders 3 жыл бұрын
@@NavdeepSingh-hw6fu Yes. Some 12v motors can handle it better than others. You’ll always have some type of ceiling where it’ll melt or quit working. Running a 12v motor at 20v is a pretty common mod though and a lot of people have good success with it.

To add my two cents: 1. I bought 10 12" long trailer wires ($2 on Amazon) and cut them in half to create my own system of proprietary connectors. I ended up converting one of the trailer wires into a polarity reverser. The wire gauge is not great, but the run is only a matter of inches and seems ok. 2. I used a cheaper non-Dewalt adapter ($15 on Amazon) and soldered directly to the 20v out to the tool. All the electronics and included USB charger on the adapter still work. It still adapts 18v tools to 20v batteries. I filed holes where the two halves of it meet for the fuse holder out and back in, and the trailer wire out. The clamping action of the case keeps my kids from tearing apart the solder and butt connections. 3. I ended up buying a pair of 6ah batteries on sale at Home Depot for $129 to run my kids PowerWheels. These are a great size. I couldn't bring myself to burn up my Flexvolts which are way more $$$ per Ah. The kids change batteries when then get down to one light on the battery. My understanding is that a large Ah battery will get you approximately 10% more speed (also slightly better performance in certain tools). 4. If you use up a 5Ah battery in 30 minutes of hard driving, that works out mathematically to an average of 10amps over 0.5 hours. 5. I ended up with drifty cars due to much more power than the wheels can put to the ground. This effect (which the kids love) creates substantial tire wear. 6. The first time we pressed the pedal on our Barbie jeep (polarity reversed !) the kids flipped the jeep rubber side up completely and landed on their heads. The roll bar on the Jeep actually worked.

Great video! One helpful tip for the these ride ons is to get a bicycle tire, cut it so it’s one long strip, then cut it long ways so the sides are trimmed off. You should be left with a long strip of the middle tread. Cut enough so it wraps around each of the rear tires and then use flat head screws to secure the tread to the plastic wheels. Viola! Assume traction and no more wheel slip!

It may depend on which vehicle you have. I personally haven’t experienced that on any of the Power Wheels I’ve done it to, but it could be possible. These things are usually fairly simple. I’d trace the wiring and see where exactly it goes and what’s in line. On the simple ones, it’s usually just a series of switches.

I recently sold the truck, like two weeks ago. It quit working, but I don't believe the motors burnt out. I've done this mod to approximately 10 power wheels with no real issue from that. We're pretty rough on them, so the causes of death have been other things.

Hopefully some others can chime in. It’s going to be directly related to the amp hours of your battery. The smaller it is, the shorter the run time will be. My 5 amp hour battery seems to last 20-30 minutes, I think. My 60v Flexvolt might be 9 amp hours at 20v and it lasts a while; maybe 45 minutes. I haven’t timed any of them though.

@TractorHoarders
@TractorHoarders 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig, unfortunately, I do not; however, Power Wheels in general have very simple electrical circuits. You pretty much just have a battery, switches, and motors (at least on ones like this). From the battery, you basically just have "+" and "-" going to a fancy switch (high forward, low forward, reverse), and then the other side of the switch feeds to the rear motors in parallel. You can get a cheap volt meter off of Amazon (example: amzn.to/3xrU08f) and use it to confirm polarity. Good luck!

@TractorHoarders
@TractorHoarders 2 жыл бұрын
two 20 volts in series will give you 40 volts..... 40 volts will likely burn up your wiring and motors pretty quickly.... they'll turn into smoke. But, if you want to do it, you basically just connect battery #1 negative to battery #2 positive. Then you are left with a positive lead from battery #1 and a negative lead from battery #2. Those two leads will connect to the vehicle + and -.

My car burns fuse when It acelerates I need help
@TractorHoarders
@TractorHoarders 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Aureliano, when you are blowing fuses, it means that the current being drawn is greater than what the fuse supports. So for example, if it's a 20 amp fuse, you may be pulling more than that. The fuse is in place to protect other electrical components from burning or melting. Without knowing the details of your car, things like weight, can affect the current draw... for example, if multiple kids are in it, it will draw more amps than with one kid. If you're in places of greater resistance (grass versus pavement), it will draw more amps. There can also be other electrical issues that can cause this too. You can get a cheap multi-meter and perform some basic diagnostics. amzn.to/3ucTs4q
