I had an opportunity to take advantage of the super low southwest winds. So beautiful. Water visibility was a legit 4 feet. I don't remember when Galveston had this clear water. The fishing was very good too. It's a great time to take advantage of the Speckled Trout and the Spanish Mackerel out in the clear waters.

Amazing time out there Nick. This was an every weekend fishing area as a youngster. I loved fishing the jetties because you can catch so many different species. Stay safe out there.

Fyi - Pilot boats cruise Galveston yacht basin to Gulf of Mexico and they are a threat to all small craft depending on to their speed . They produce large 4ft wakes and I freak out everytime I see them because a wave may enter the boat even though , I am on a 2ft boat. Their job is to pick up and drop off local captain when cargo ships arrive at Galveston. They cruise near south jetties channel side most of the times. My hand is on Marine Radio ready to yell at them if they are producing too much wake.

beautiful intro footage, backlit fishing line, cool shot....trolling always works......best way to find fish.....BTW FYI stop in at harbor freight and get a pair of their extra long (far from fish teeth) needle nose pliers...under 10$ last time I bought a pair...one is straight point and the other is a 90 degree bent tip....gotta be 9-10 inches long...use mine when I hook needle nose gar....GREAT VIDEO!!!!

Have you ever gone fishing at Calaveras or Braunig Lakes in San Antonio for fresh water reds? Trolling is the method of fishing for many kayakers at these lakes. If you haven't you done so then should make a trip up here. Catching 30"+ reds is not uncommon. You lookup KZfaqrs "Rude Dawg Yak Fishing" and "HookdRR" for a taste of what to expect.
