THANK YOU for not having background music. I loaded up some 40's jazz on low volume for the background and it's so fun to watch this way! :)

That is a very cool setup. Those are the kind of things that I love seeing videos on.

oh man I remember reading about this thing and the accompanying games in magazines years ago! Any truth to that urban legend about a particular brand of ramen that produced particularly epic monsters from its barcode (or it may have been an item, it was 20 years+ ago so I forget the exact details) ... great video as always, man!

That was the other point to it. In the UK this thing was a total failure - we never got the SNES addon or the wide variety of cards, and it was sold simply as a thing to scan cards and "battle" your friends. To make it more "fun" you could cut out barcodes from food packets and scan them to see what they did but they never worked properly.

Thanks Luke for doing a video on this. I bought one of these from Japan and didn't understand its functionality. Its a pretty cool device.

There was Eye of Judgement on PS3 that was a card battler, and you placed cards on this cloth like battle arena, and the playstation eye would read them.There was hundreds of cards made for it, but it's so hard to get a hold of them now. It's a pretty cool game too.

They should make like a RPG for ps4 or wiiu or so on it is like a normal RPG like Final fantasy or so but you pick the your story's character with cards and you use items with cards. So they man character could be any one out of let say 100 cards man I would buy that game for sure. Thanks for a great video Luke

Yes shows the level of innovation that was happening back then, as someone mentioned, Skylanders would be an evolution of this sort of idea.

I used to have the original barcode battler (I don't remember it having any of those pre made cards) but you could use ANY barcodes with it (not just the one from the original box)

I've got the international version of the first model I think, pretty fun stuff. The Barcode Battler II can also interface with the Famicom, right? I think pretty much all barcodes can work, which was actually the whole idea behind it. Can you find the most powerful warrior? They might be hiding everywhere, in any product you buy! I remember most random barcodes gave you very weak stuff though lol.

These things have always been interesting, PS3 even had eye of judgement

image if pokemon was like this back in the day, it would have made the cards feel more valuable. I known of a card reader for the GBA, I think it was where you could swipe some pokemon cards and they worked for your game or something like that.

I have a major question I'd really like an answer on. Could you use the Zelda cards with the Famicom accessory?
@RareSeldas9 жыл бұрын
Important question: Could you mix cards? So I recently bought these systems and was wondering if I could say, use the Mario cards with the Zelda cards? And Do the Zelda cards work on the Super Famicom?

does the hand held scanner allow you to scan things other than the cards for more weapons/characters/options?

Can you use barcode battler first version to hook up with snes?! Or you need only bb2 ?!
@ValentinesEve1996 Жыл бұрын
If you are talking about the original white Barcode Battler that came out in Japan in 1991, then the answer is no. That Barcode Battler lacks the expansion port that would be found on the Barcode Battler II.

I thought you could also scan any bar code to randomly see if you could get some crazy monster, In the US you could anyways.

Pretty neat add on for the thing. Do the cards ever wear out from being swiped so many times over the years?
