Thank you for both 1.8 Corolla videos. I have the same car and enjoy watching well documented videos on this vehicle. Trying to keep it for as long as I can with its current mileage 140,000 I hope to keep it till 300,000. Currently doing 3k oil changes since it’s a 4cy & oil gets dirty pretty quick and the manual says it’s for this model year.

I have a 2000 Corolla with 300 K miles and is is burning some oil (bluish smoke) and starts every time... for the past 23 years...

@@DougHinVA That's a very well-known design flaw on the Gen 8 Corolla. The fix is to modify the pistons by drilling extra oilway holes and to replace the rings. That involves a head gasket job, though, which is why many would rather just keep topping off the oil, which will eventually clog up the catalytic converter.

Keep in mind that if you’re going to try and remove the throttle body on a 1zz-Fe that some models may have a coolant line running through the body of the TB, meaning you’ll need to top off your coolant afterwards

For the Gen 9 Corolla (2003-2008) the intake manifold bolts with the 12mm head cap are spec'd for a torque of 22 ft. lbs. Perhaps the other years are 14 ft lbs, but not 2003-2008.

You know what is interesting is on my 2000 Corolla the intake manifold is all metal so apparently I don't need to use a torque wrench to put it back on. It is readily apparent that Toyota cut corners to save $$$ by making them out of plastic later on.
