fyi Martin Waslewski (on Monaberry is in Ontario this weekend!) I don't know.. I love this track but I can't help but think the orchestra probably isn't into this. It takes 40-60 people to play some components of the song while electronics do the main motif and bass kick and drums. I come from a classic music family and they'll just never understand our music. Two completely different approaches. Classical musicians train for their entire lives to perfect their craft. They are generally performers, they do not create as much as they play other's creations. Music for them is very hard work and the more work you put into it the better the result. Electronic music shares a lot of these elements but it's not like you need to time your every actions. You only have to turn the bass kick loop. Not taking anything away from Mathias and Felix, I love em and only listen to tech house, but these are two totally different ways of making music. This end result is fantastic and a great track... but frankly the live orchestra component is for a gimmick for show; the boys would be able to produce the same track in the studio using computers.

well electronic music is often not made to be virtuous/complicated. I actually "composed" and recorded piano stuff for house music with a classical pianist and while it was stupidly easy for her mechanically, I noticed that it was hard for her to wrap her mind around how to best reduce her playing down to the very concise moments of expression and groove that I wanted for my piece. This might be easier for jazz musicians but there's still a very different approach to playing. instead of long and extensive progressions you need to boil things down to compressed expressions of color, tension and release
