Coming from someone who has had 2 hernia surgeries in the last 20 years, I think I may need a third just from watching this video.

Scraper is way better than a putty knife for sure. Bought one this spring and I’m very happy with it. Glad you did this video on the jack. After seeing how difficult it was to lift the machine I’m glad I held off on that purchase. At 160 lbs and nursing a torn tendon in my arm there is no way I’m trying to lift my 61” with that.

170 5'10 checking in here.. its a pain to lift lol and I'm in shape and like to think I lift a lot and its still rough

Hey man, I have the Ballard Jack good. I definitely believe it’s all about the technique. Kinda like throwing a 28/35’ by yourself. It’s not all about strength but it depends where the ladder is going and about technique. Love your videos bro.

Thank you! I agree 💯 about technique and now that I have used it more, it's not as difficult lol.

@@HandyGuy2016 I have a 52" Ferris Z2, which is not as heavy as a your Z3s but is over 900 lbs and use a Junglejack to lift my Z2. So I know what you mean having to wrestle lifting the mower. Watching your video, one difference I see between the Ballard jack and my jack is where the leverage foot pedal is located. On the Junglejack, the pedal drops down on the handle from a higher position than the much lower position on the Ballard jack. The higher position seems to provide significantly better leverage than the Ballard jack. Your Z3s may be too heavy to safely use the Junglejack but I've been very pleased with mine. I also bought the Ballard super scraper for the additional leverage it has over a paint scraper but find it can be too long to maneuver in certain scraping situations. What I found saves the day for me is another common painter's tool, a 5 in 1 tool/scraper. I've found it is so much more versatile than another other scraping tool I've used, including the super scraper.

We have a jack made by Jungle Jim's that has a folding foot step that's located about halfway up the handle. Unfold it when lifting big mowers, (Ferris z3x, Exmark zero turn), and fold it for our smaller mowers. Works good. Wouldn't think to try and lift the z3x without that step.

I have the jungle Jim’s lift also. I would think the jungle Jim lift would be way better....

How much does that mower weigh? I’m considering it for a new Bad Boy Rebel that comes in at nearly 1,400lbs.
@HandyGuy20162 жыл бұрын
1200 lbs with the Vanguard engine. I think the Z2 is around 1000 lbs, which would be more similar to the bad boy platform.

Is it okay to jack up a z3 like that with the suspension?
@HandyGuy20162 жыл бұрын
Definitely ok and it works a lot easier now that I have a better feel for how to use the jack.

I have never used one of these Jack's but the problem with it is they should put the part you stand on for leverage all the way down on the jack between the wheels. That would give you more leverage!!!!
@HandyGuy20162 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that would probably be better.

Looks Cool, but I do have to wonder how many ways that could go bad? Be safe and have fun? 🤠

Right! LoL, I will be as safe as I can.

I used an intro creating app that I found. It's been so long ago, I don't even remember what it was called. It's hard to find one without a watermark.

I believe the jungle Jim lift is a better simpler design in my opinion.
@HandyGuy20162 жыл бұрын
I will have to check that out

It seemed like a bit of a struggle to lift. You are in fairly decent shape and it looked like a lot of effort...its fair to say that most of the people in lawn care aren't trying to also compete and win the Mr. Olympia contest ha ha...have you figured out a better way to get some leverage with that?
@HandyGuy20162 жыл бұрын
It's not as hard as I made it look, I just didn't know how to use it yet lol. It's much easier now that I know how to use it.

What is the final lift height
@HandyGuy20162 жыл бұрын
I think it's 32" but I'm not sure. It's high enough to use an impact to remove blades with space to spare.

I wouldnt straddle the handle till the wheel was locked

Chuck the wheels.
@caswinson2 жыл бұрын
This is a poor design. The foot pedal is in the wrong place. That like wheel brake isn’t going to stop anything.
@HandyGuy20162 жыл бұрын
It isn't bad, now that I have used it a few times.
