Today we're checking out more Disassembly 3D. We're going to see what happens when we disassemble some parts to a superjumbo airbus liek tha A380. You know...like taking it's landing gear off, taking some of the engine's off, of just straight up removing the wings. We also get the opportunity to mess around with an elevator, something I've never really taken apart before...or really looked too deeply into how it works.

Hey grey! Licensed pilot here! If you lose both engines on an aircraft like the A380 shown in the video nothing will happen. You'll have a slight thrust imbalance and the plane will pull to that side but the aircraft will still fly just fine. Planes like this are rated to fly on one engine across the ocean. Google ETOPS aircraft for a better explanation! Have a good one and happy disassembling!

If you applied Yaw to it, it would not spin out. Yes you would notice it pulling but it would not be too little thrust. You can still fly a 74 or a A380 with 2 engines

The A380 deconstruction looks sort of like the Airbus training programs they have for mechanics. I've only ever seen it on A320's but I imagine it's similar for all of their jets. There's one that's a virtual component locator where you can pop open panels and even blow the emergency slides(did it), it won't let you fly it, tho. There's also a practical version where it gives you a task and you have to go step by agonizing step to complete it. If you think gray gets frustrated looking for the last piece, try doing a maintenance task almost completely correct only to have it keep you from going forward because you forgot one tiny step or just have it freeze because you clicked the mouse one too many times.

Didn't they barrel-roll and spin the prototype? I think the FAA has them do that somewhere for airworthiness and safety...they do crazy things to the airliner prototypes to ensure that they're both structurally and aerodynamically sound.

Very little running elevators are made held with cables and wires due to safety issues. Nowadays elevators are held on a huge metal piston so you won't fall through the elevator shaft.

Nope, that's wrong. Elevators with cables are very common, and are still often installed. Over half of all elevators run with cables. Also, elevators with cables are completely safe. Hydraulic elevators (the piston ones) are just used because they are more cost-effective.

Yes, that is realistic elevator motor, and even it has counterweight so it is very realistic, also, those small pieces are from the door mechanism.

Gray the big seats are there for the actual first class seats, see after a long day of work the chairs need some time so yeah that’s why those are there
