Super Light Jigging (SLJ) is a light version of Slow Pitch Jigging using a spin reel setup and gives you the ability to cast out wide, ahead of the drift, back of the drift, or straight up and down. The smaller jigs, typically between 30g to 90g help entice the bite or to imitate small bait fish.
I've been learning this new technique myself recently, and after a few successful trips I wanted to share with you all what gear I use and the ways I fish these lures.

Thanks for watching bro! I used to have a Blue Packer paired with a Slammer 3500 before the 2500 came out, its an awesome combo that does everything from microjigs to kabura, and you get to hear the awesome sound of a spin reel too when the drag is peeling

Great video, just picked up some ocean legacy jigs to give it a shot - thanks for the great info and tips! btw Varivas Avani Casting PE1.2 24.1lb where abouts did you purchase so far only place can find is across the ditch... doesnt seem to be any in NZ.

Great video! Thx for outlining. Have been loving estuary and inshore micro jigging (15-30g) of late to good succes. Do you have any content on micro jigging? Also have you tried the Roven micro jigs? I am looking at an Elementus Micro Jigging rod. Can't decide on whether to get a Cloud 9 (more length for casting) vs the shorter Elementus Micro Jigging rod. Any thoughts mate?

Hey mate, thanks for watching! I've just started using the lighter Rovens, the 6g to 25g Rovens launch in NZ in about 3 weeks time. I fished the 15g on my last trip out and the snappers love it. I'm in the same boat as you thinking about rods, and yeah if you are casting I reckon go for longer Cloud 9, and if it's just straight up and down jigging or short flicks then the elementus micro PE1. I'm actually getting a 7ft3 Ocean's Legacy Quest Rod to fish the 6-10g Roven which would suit you too for Estuary fishing. Happy to keep chatting with you on this stuff. Great video mate! Looking to get myself a similar set up. Just curious how many metres of the Varivas Avani Casting PE1.2 braid you we’re able to pack onto the 2500H slammer?

Thanks mate, the PE1.2 line is very thin, I got the 300m on no problem, and I estimate it could take another 100m. I should really put some backing on mine as it only looks 2/3 full with the 300m

6:28 you said by letting rod sit still...the fish will come and it? Just want to clarify that you didn't use bait? I thought you have to use bait by sit and wait. It also a metal jig works as well? Do you have to drop it all the way down to the sand/bottom or half way?

This is with no bait, the rocking motion of the boat is enough to entice the fish to bite, i have it just off the bottom. It will snag if it is left on the bottom

The contact jig, can you use that jig to cast and jig from inshore? Or do you have to be on the boat? And it cost $59 a jig????

Yes you can use this from the shore too. The jig is $14.95 in NZ, where are you based?
