This run is improvable. I have entered the first box at a late 485 before which makes 119 possible and other optimizations throughout can bring it to a 118. This could now go as low as 112 with using the tanooki at the ring burner section avoiding the boost panels.

with the success my brother and i have had with beating this level (none so far) im almost thinking it'd be easier at this point to learn the speedrunning techniques and beat it that way

Wow when I saw you skipping the "THANK YOU!!" section I said: "This man is crazy!" 😂😂 Good job being this fast with the slowest character and I never thought of the cat suit for skipping the vertical parts

Thanks. Luigi is actually the fastest character in most levels, while Toad is useful in many of them, too. Mario would be the slowest character in this game

It took me over 3 hours to beat this level for the first time on the switch. Countless close calls along the way till I finally broke through with Luigi, and only got hit once.

Some issues I have: The first section has some suboptimal crouch boosts and can probably be improved The second section with the beeping blocks could have a more efficient route. You can jump up to the highest red block before the 2nd place platform and make the jump without roll diving, aswell doing the jump on the staircase platforms, that would cut off a fair bit. The water skip looks a bit slow to me, one thing I suggest trying is doing a walljump back to a roll dive and see if that’s faster as you might not need to do as much climbing The boost platform section could be navigated better and more optimally Just overall optimization in general can land you an even faster time, and I will say I am surprised this is only 6 IGT faster than the Wii U version.

If I get too much speed on the first section, I bonk and lose all my speed before the wall. I'm not sure if the next block cycle is possible or not. For the water skip, it would hit the wall if I dived and it wouldn't really be faster if it was possible. The boost panel section was optimal because luigi doesn't have a float ability like peach.
