In the mario franchise, they dont drown, so none mario characters would have "drowned" but sonic characters could had drown easily so that had some mistakes.

OH NO or if the Bros. were inside him that has been the only canon time that he has without kamek also why in the world would bowser eat sonic instead of oh i dont know INCINERATING THE CRAP OUT THAT HEDGEHOG I mean bowser has never eaten another character on purpose so why now. And another thing according to new super mario bros. 2 and super mario 3d land and 3d world if luigi used the entire golden tanooki leaf on himself or mario team mario would've won because it gives you invincibility. And there is no way sonic could've won because the number of abilities not just the bros. have but all of the other fighters outnumber the power of all 7 chaos emeralds and dont even get me started on bros attacks Snack basket specifically and magic window from BIS and Bowsers Broggy Bonker could easily delt with team sonic alone. Because of the simple fact that Team Sonic never picked up a single ring which means they all except for robotnik should have died in one hit

They cannot kill each other, as all for of them in those forms are invincible except for very specific circumstances (Mario And Luigi need to fall in a bottomless pit, Lava or a Black hole and Sonic and Shadow can lose enough rings to drop their super forms. We also know that the Super Forms can be disrupted with enough force (Look at Sonic 3 and Knuckles where Knuckles managed to hit Sonic Hard enough to force him to drop the chaos emeralds and his super form). It also would have been endless regardless as (despite bowser seemingly dying in this fight) We know that canonically, Bowser (like Ganondorf) Always comes back. Like we've seen Bowser fall into a collapsing Galaxy. Only to wake up in a new galaxy formed by Rosalina

This is bizarrely violent for a Mario and Sonic crossover. If you think about it Shadow takes Yoshi's head off of Yoshi, Sonic separates Peach's limbs, Tails and Knuckles get burned by Bowser's fire, etc.
