Teleportation (without portals) has always been my favourite. Because almost every task can be done with it like getting changed, brushing teeth, getting dry etc. I just think that would be cool

I personally think reality manipulation would be pretty wicked, because with that one could do LITERALLY ANYTHING. Phase through walls. Summon eldritch entities. Contort reality itself, like in the Doctor Strange films. Nigh-infinite possibilities. Space and time would bend to one’s will.

Telekinesis is the most underrated super power. Everyone always says "I wanna fly or stop time" when I ask what one power would you want. I can fly with telekinesis, lift myself. I can also defend myself with telekinetic barriers, hard enough wall even bullets can't go through. And combat would be easy, yank the gun out of their hands.

one power i had from a semi-lucid dream was some kinda elemental emitter it would be summoned out of your hand and would spew out a chosen element you could think of out of it. basically creating with extra steps air could also help you fly you could only switch elements during use however so hopefully the previous element doesnt go caca crazy with the current one

The best ones would be the ones that are useful in most or in every situation. From normal life to impactful or fighting situations. Like all the shades of timecontrol. (Specially, in first place, going back and then stopping time) Can you IMAGINE how much time you could sleep with that!? Others would be any kind of mind power or super speed But I'd go with time travel/control.

Friction control would be an interesting power. You could slide anywhere, become an immovable object, or even walk on air. Or cause fires.

It'd be cool to have a healing factor. Not having to worry about your health alone would be a game changer.

The power to be good at everything you do the first time you try it. That would be so amazing, because you would have infinite roads to take and explore. Although it might take away some of the fun of feeling that sort of accomplishment you get when you get good at something you previously weren't good at. But if you tweak the power to "being a really fast learner" that might be less of an issue. But my more generic pick would be teleportation. You could go anywhere or escape any situation. It's such a good vanilla power.

I still stand by the idea that shape shifting is the best superpower. It encompasses most of the other classic superpowers. Give yourself wings for flight, turn into a random object to be invisible, etc

I feel like the ability to shapeshift is underrated, because assuming that it's literally chemically changing your body's composition, you can technically become a superhuman in every other way - you can genetically shift yourself to gain muscle mass differently, to be faster, I have a very loose concept of dna, learn quicker, the sky's the limit. It's only limited by your creativity (and possibly by your energy and available resources around to shift with, if you wanna be lame and technical like a big ol lame-o)

I think teleportation would be the best super-power to have, because you wouldn't really have to go far.

One thing often ignored in the discussion about superpowers is the question of how physically taxing your power would be. Like, if we're talking about flying, how tired would you be after an hour of flying?

Advanced forcefield emitter, and some really good control software for it. Creates fields that can be either planar or volumetric, can selectively collide with matter, and can emit, absorb, and reflect/refract radiation. The most common applications I see it being used for are for holographic projections, applying forces to objects, and as a solar panel and heatsink. Not only are the uses endless, but it can also be used to fake most other superpowers. Dependencies: Cybernetics base platform, and at least a hundred kWh worth of extra-high-output batteries.

Flashtime will almost always be my choice (basically superspeed, but the way they show it in comic books). Other than that: stretchy rubber body (like gum gum in one piece) or Spider-Man (preferably Tobey Maguire’s) powers, just to swing across the city and dodge balls in dodge ball easier

Shapeshifting, always my pick. Instead of explaining why I want it, though, I'd rather explain why this is such a fun answer to this question, because it has so much more possible variety than most answers depending on your parameters. If we want to go crazy with what counts as "shapeshifting," that means that if I wanted to turn into Superman, I will not only look like him, but I will have all of his powers. If I want to be geokinetic, or produce weapons from my body, or clone myself? Turn into someone who can do that. I could also turn into non-human animals, or even inanimate objects if I wanted. Maybe I just want to know what it's like being a Brussels sprout, you know? You could even turn into fictional characters or ones that don't even exist, fiction or nonfiction. Meanwhile, at the most limited, you can only turn into other people. Maybe you can only turn into faces of people you know, or maybe you need to obey the law of conservation of mass, so you can't become super muscular or go from overweight to scrawny. Maybe you're only allowed to turn into a certain type of person, like if you're only able to turn into the same sex (or only the opposite sex). Maybe you only have a single other form you can change back and forth into. And even more than that, let's say you got this power from a mischievous genie. You get to shapeshift, but once you do, you find out that you're stuck in that form forever. The possibilities are as limited or as endless as you allow them to be when it comes to shapeshifting, so I love exploring that when I answer this question.

I feel like biological manipulation would be a great power assuming you can always revert back to your original state and if rendered unconscious you return to your original state

“All of your clones study” I refuse to believe that it wouldn’t go like this: You clone yourself, and get all the clones to go study. You start studying but realise you aren’t getting anything done, however it doesn’t matter because all your clones are studying for you. You meet up with all the clones and morph back together, only to realise that all of the clones procrastinated and you didn’t learn anything.

Time manipulation is the thing I immediately think of. Stopping time lets you Steal things, take naps, maybe study for that quiz you forgot was today. Plus rewinding and going forward in time would be pretty neat also.

With weapon summoning just make a platinum sword melted down into a bar and sell it. there's also the decorations you use like a big-ass diamond at the hilt that you can take off

weapon summoning and controlling (honestly just melee for me) works just fine, because you keep them on you for battles and you can do cool tricks and things not to mention the obvious idea of summoning a dagger in someone's back or something... seriously i fully imagined crazy combos with this super power, but more as a celestial domain concept (think Percy Jackson, the original greek/roman/norse gods, but... god of melee) and one cool idea is just ripping Terraprisma from Terraria and making a legendary shimmery cloak/elytra thing for extended swings, parries and all-around identity establishment (you have to establish trademarks as a superhero, you know!)

Shapeshifting will always be the best power, almost no matter how it's defined. If you can only do full transformations, taking on the entire form of for example an animal, it's still freaking great since there are soooooooooo many different animals with cool abilities. You don't need a second superpower to fly, you can just transform into a bird. You don't need a second superpower for superstrength, you can just transform into a gorilla. Etc. etc. It's even more amazing if you have complete control of your shapeshifting and can freely mix and match different physical features on your body as you wish. Hell you could even modify your own appearance to look hotter, the possibilities are endless!

I would like to have PSI from Mother/Earthbound, an extremely powerful magic types requiring the full concentration of the user for it to manifest and do damage properly. It would be really interesting how much life would change from that lol.

controlling time has been my favorite for a long time. you can freeze,fast forward,slow down and even go forward and backwards in time! with shape-shifting you can disguise as anything. hide and seek would just be too easy because you can disguise as a pebble or a leaf!

I love the idea of chlorokinesis, imagine having like a plant nursery and just getting infinite sales because you can make infinite undying plants in whatever shape or colour or species you want. Plus plants are pretty and a big enough tree could probably give you very basic geokinesis.

Teleportation is my fave, though it’s the most OP and potentially broken, as Tom Scott made clear that one time. Flight has always been kinda meh to me. Enhanced mobility is cool but it still takes time and effort. The functional differences between flight and super speed are smaller than you’d probably think, only super speed is useful for things other than just traveling from place to place. Of the more common superpowers, invisibility is my pick, especially if anything you’re wearing or holding turns invisible too, and DOUBLE especially if it makes you invisible to infrared. You can’t fight what you can’t see, plus it makes travel to anywhere that already has people (read: anywhere you’d actually want to go) trivial. Just sneak aboard a plane or train or whatever form of transport you want and you’re golden. So it ups your fighting potential, means you can get into just about anywhere, and makes you the perfect spy. Pretty sweet power.

The first one can still be useful just think of a giant spatula then you can cook and you can also use swords as knives to cut. You could also make a robo arm set to help in daily activities

i dont know the name for this but I think the ability to transform parts of your body would be cool like want to get to work just make your arms wings and fly want to grab a tv controller long distance graby claw thing

Follow up suggestion: typical “villain” powers that would be amazingly helpful to society if used ethically. The one that keeps coming to mind for me is Kilgrave style mind control. Incredibly dangerous but it has incredible potential for improving lives. Could be used without consent in a crisis situation ( from talking someone back off a ledge to ending a hostage situation ). Could be used with consent to help individuals keep themselves off drugs through withdrawal phases, recount trauma, etc. A therapists ultimate tool and assistant.

I've always wanted the ability to control, store, and release momentum. Think about it. If someone shoots you, you can remove all of the kinetic energy from the bullet, and either store it for later, or release it into your opponent causing them to fly in any direction at that same velocity. As you become more powerful, you can draw momentum from larger things, such as the rotation of the earth, or even the orbit of the planets around the sun. finally, you're power's awakening could be to control the momentum of abstract concepts such as time. I feel like there's so much potential to work with, and many creative ways to utilize this power.

The cloning oneself and then reabsorbing those clones with all the knowledge and experience they had acquired has always been a wish of mine.

The ability to control light is by far one of my favorite ideas. You can, obviously, make stuff glow and get dimmer, but you can also do way more abstract things, like turn yourself invisible, see infrared/ultraviolet, make light reflect off of nothing (pretty much summoning a mirror that does not interact with physical matter), create illusions, be able to see with bonocular vision just by manipulating the way light warps near your eyes (or microscopic vision for that matter), even see through walls (though that one will definitely have to be used with measure). I personally love the idea of illusion magic essentially! Ps: You also never would have to worry about sunglasses again and you could see in the dark!

Shapeshifting for sure, as long as you were able to like have it be super involved or not. Like if you wanted to shapeshift, but you had to manually create every single new vein or artery, making sure everything works, that's just a fast way to get some internal bleeding and die. But if you were able to have it do it on its own or have you choose to be a bit more involved, than if you studied biology you could just not get sick a lot of the time, and of course.... Shapeshifting :)

Just being able to wake up in the morning without feeling like a bloated corpse is a good enough superpower for me.

shapeshifting because it's incredibly versatile. It can also do what plenty of other powers can. Flight? Shapeshift into a bird. Clone? Just shapeshift a copy of yourself with some little cord thing attached since it's still has to be connected to you. Creating weapons? Sword arm. So many other things you could do too.

Honestly, I think being able to change form of your body would be kinda cool.

The way you described the clone powers, especially the "have them learn a bunch of stuff and then recombine" is exactly how the X-Men character Jamie Madrox works. He's a crazy-smart scientist, because he learned, well, everything.

I’d take the power to control momentum. If it works how I think it does not only would you be able to control the speed at which some things move, you would ideally also be able to control things like the temperature of objects by speeding up or slowing down their atoms which just sounds very convenient.

I'd likely go with the ability to phase through solid mass, while also being able to choose things to travel with me, and mass that I don't travel through, meaning that I'm not just going to end up naked when I phase through a wall or barrel down to the center of the earth when ever I use my powers

Shapeshifting (with low limits) is a great option. You could fly by shapeshifting into a bird, or any other silly stuff you want. And also you arent limited to normal animals you could just make stuff up. Or if its even more unlimited you dont even have to do smth biological. Lotta options.

I feel speed/agility would be good. Speed may be insanely common, but DOES have a lot of benefits. Assuming my body can handle it, I could get anywhere pretty quickly. Just imagine driving on the highway and some guy just bolts it past you. It would be pretty convenient if you ask me

Any very versatile power would be my choice, but I think Space Warping would be my go to. You can warp the space you are in to teleport, and can shape the space of something like water to your own desire. It's not exactly Reality Manipulation and closer to Satoru Gojo, I guess.

A superpower I always thought would be cool would be the ability to become ethereal. But not just all at once, but also having complete control of the extent and where specifically. If someone went to punch you, you could make it so that part of you is no longer corporeal and they just go straight through. You could be almost invincible by making everything but the bottom of your feet untouchable. And that way you could still walk around.

I'd live for either teleportation or persuasion. Think either would be incredibly useful for non evil reasons

I have a power suggestion: shapeshifting. One might imagine it as just some normal superpower, yeah cool turn into whatever you want or add organs and limbs to your body cool, but here's the thing: it's WHATEVER you want. You want an organ that gives you another superpower? Shapeshift it. Shapeshift a gland in your throat that let's you breathe fire. Shapeshift a tiny organ in your body, small enough to take up little to no space inside your body, and make it so that it gives you any power. Scientists want to capture you and study you? Well, if you made a portal-summoning organ earlier, you can use it right now (or make one right now if you haven't) and teleport away. You are the ultimate life form.

The smart idea would be "changing the probability of any event" so you can do anything, but I think stopping time is a lot more useful than people give it credit

i would personally like to have the power to enchant anything to do anything. the possibilities are endless. you could turn a pile of dirt into gold. you could make flying swords. you could even grant yourself superpowers by enchanting objects to grant the holder/wearer superpowers. you could just enchant different accessories to give you super strength, super intelligence, flight, super healing. you could also make them only work on you. additionally, if you wanted to have a super power at all times, you could enchant yourself. you could become god.

If I could have any superpower, I’d go with time manipulation. Being able to pause, resume, rewind, or forward time at my own will. That way I’m not just stuck with 2 settings for any time related super power, time manipulation gives me all the power for anything I want to do with time. Secondary superpower choice would be to teleport by just snapping my fingers

Two words "Toon Force" Think about it the ability to alter reality in anyway you want so long as you find it amusing. Like Jim Carrey from the mask except you can control it. You'd never actually get hurt unless you want to. You could pull whatever you need out of thin air like costumes or food or a giant mallet with bombs strapped to the head. And you could make your enemies do a really embarrassing and elaborate song and dance number then film it for KZfaq. And so so much more.

My answer to this as a kid was that I could effectively have the Wish spell from DnD, which is summed up by "you pray to the cosmos... *and they answer back,"* meaning that I just ask for the universe to do something and it does it. "I wanna have wings" and then you have wings, sorta deal. However, my current answer is that I'd love to be infinitely lucky. It'd make me effectively immune to any cause of death other than old age, possibly even avoiding that, and my absurd ability to have literally anything go my way would mean that I'd, almost as a guarantee, live a life of impossible comfort and luxury. If I went into the scientific field, my absurd luck would both keep me out of harm and allow me to make incredible discoveries constantly, as long as I searched for them. I'd always have the funding for my research, I'd always have the materials to do as I wish, and I'd always have people of incredible intelligence and success around me, because I wanted them there. Oh, you think that I'll eventually be caught, or it'll be revealed that I have powers? My luck fixes that as well! I could write a fully detailed document on my ability and all of the instances of it activating and put every safeguard in place to make sure I _will_ be caught, and even still I won't, because I don't want to! You literally can't beat it. I could rant for hours about how this is undoubtedly an almost infinitely powerful ability, but I'll stop there.
