Certain people never give David Foster is props. He SAVED Chicago!!! Without him they would have died in the 80s.

He saved Chicago from what ? Terry Kath's death would have destroyed a lesser band. But Foster did what Kath's 9mm pistol couldn't...turned them into pasty faced, whiny purveyors of empty schlock.Foster thinks he's king shit, He's a self-righteous toad.

This is a point of contention with many bands. Some groups work better with the democracy approach, where everyone has an equal say; others work better with one or two definitive leaders. Take Creedence Clearwater Revival - John Fogerty wore the pants in that band for many years. Eventually the other three guys said they wanted more say in the music, songwriting, etc., so John let them do an album in that manner, and it bombed.

I read somewhere Peter was complaining that there were always meetings about everything, even simple things & how he was tired of all of that nonsense. Constant meetings, 7 different opinions, yikes..!! So, DF isn't the only one who complained about that. You can think what you want, but DF helped CHICAGO get back on the charts. And, the original CHI members will ignore that fact, just like they don't acknowledge PC's huge contribution to the band.Let's give credit where credit is due.

Robert Lamm: Well, you know I firmly believe that without David Foster at that time the band probably would have ceased to exist, at least as a mainstream band. It would have taken a lot of struggle, if we hadn't had those hits, for us to find out way. You know, that was like the right guy at the right time both for us and with radio.

It is a well known fact that both Peter and Terry hated the horns.

Chicago is one of the greatest bands alive David Foster. You should have been honored to work with them instead of talking trash! Oh by the way they still are on tour to this day. So it shows how well they are still doing. Without your help

By the late 70’s music changed and Chicago didn’t change with it.

The fact is Chicago is still touring on the back of the 80’s hits, which their audience recognizes and a greatest hits review of the the 70’s catalog. They are a nostalgia act and tribute to themselves.

I love DF & everything he does. What's refreshing to me, is that he 'tells it like it is". Some may find that arrogant, but I like his kind of personality.I read his book, "HITMAN" & he only spends a page or 2 talking about working w/CHICAGO. CHI hired him to arrange things & then gave him a hard time. Wrestling Heretic got it right. Put 7 people together & you can't make everyone happy, so he comes off looking like a jerk. Try getting 7 people just to agree on a holiday menu and sparks will fly.

@TheBeaugraham 16 had real drums, but Foster started using the "machine" on the next one. That's why We Can Stop The Hurtin' sounded so much better live.

What a jerk. Worst thing musically to happen to Chicago, was getting this guy to produce them. He brought all those session players, and ruined the "band" sound that they had before. Listen to the stuff they did with Guercio, and then listen to what Foster did to them. With all the trouble they had with Guercio, at least he let them sound like a freaking BAND! Foster brought in too many synths, including the bass parts. And when you have a drummer like Danny Seraphine, why use a drum machine?

Danny wasn’t cutting it at the time. Those Guercio hits served their purpose, in the 70’s. Times changed and they didn’t change with the times.

Times Change! Good music never changes and no matter what decade. Real instruments always Trump the digital garbage. Foster did save the band but his production style is somewhat cold sounding. For some reason I still like Chicago 16 over 17. If I had to pick their best 80’s album.
