Amber Dos XX's on tap is the BEST. Corona Familiar is good. So is the lighter version of Modelo. Tecate is what you buy when you don't have too much money but still better than any American gas station beer

Out of these, I like Medelo Negra the most but I have a preference of amber and dark lagers. I would say my second pick would be a toss up between Dos Equis and Tecate.

I first had Tecate around 1991 in Mexico. Never heard of it before I went south for a weekend get away, its been my go to Cerveza ever since. TL:DR The only reason Corona is served with lime is because in warm climate country's mosquitos or fleas will fly down to the lip of the bottle an lay eggs on it, attracted by the alcohol sent, and the lime sent drives then away, that is why the lime Corona kinda make a pair, personally i like it chilled. Salt in beer will cause heart problems on the long run.

The lime is just to mask the "skunky" smell/taste of beers bottled in clear glass without the proper care to avoid light exposure. I can't say I mind Corona if its cold on a super hot day, as long as it was stored properly, but the price just isn't worth it even with those caveats

1.Bohemia has few flavors Oscura = dark Pilsner = gold label Clara = red label Weitzen = blue label Chocolate = purple label Oscura meaning dark is the best in my opinion a fancier better made version of Modelo Negro ....2.Sol Corona Tecate are to be done with a saldadito an lemon ...Saldadito is salted plum with with chamoy or salt has a pit so *becareful not to chew* 3. I don't need to read any comments to know that a bunch of people are saying that drinking the dos Equis via shotgun and drinking the Modelo especial poured in a glass (at an angle that is not suggested by the beer drinkers association of American & Europe and all the snooty poo poos) to a glass can change the flavor profile, button all seriousness the amount it changes is insignificant enough that no matter how you drink the beer the overall flavor is what matters. Just wanted to say thanks for being straight up!

Facts: 1. Beers coming out of US or Mexico have different qualities depending on the bottling. Meaning, the same Modelo or Tecate if it's glass bottled it's tastier. 2. Modelo Negra is not and doesn't taste like an Amber Ale. It is a Dark Lager. Fundamentally different. 3. Your pronunciation of Dos Equis is funny but off. No fact: My fave Mexican beer is amber Dos Equis. Maybe you don't have it in Canada. That would explain why you haven't included it in the review. If you have a chance try it cold and thirsty. No lime or salt.

Good review. I feel Tecate and dos XX's leave a fairly long after taste so I prefer Modelo as it is fairly flavorful but the finish is very clean.

I generally like Mexican beer. I agree, better than Bud. I enjoy the lime. You mention "Gas Station Beer" Cool. Picture a Baja P-Mex. Engineered building., Note the rest room doors are locked. Maybe in USA they can afford the water to flush toilets, Maybe not so in the desert. Thats life. Our friend El Bano is out back! Yes! that is a 1953 Chevy Hood for a roof! El Bano has flies.
