I haven't compared it to GigaPixel, but I'll take your word that it does a better job. But that doesn't mean this tool is not "amazing." It still accomplishes something impressive without having to go and purchase another tool, or learn something new. Of course, Adobe updates get more attention. They're a larger company that offers the industry-standard tools.

​@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel True. But maybe in this case Amazing is a bit over the top. The technology has been around for a while and considering as you said for a company the size of Adobe, I see they invest a lot of time in rainbow logos and changing menus to appease the SJW's but not nearly as much in features and bug fixes. Most of the features they do add these days they buy from other companies and really actually innovate anymore. At least AI should be easy with the company of their budget and resources. Sense AI engine is good but its still not amazing. Most of the stuff they use it it for, like auto selections, applying auto corrections, resizing with "super resolutions" are things other companies have been doing for a while. If you want to see something truly amazing with AI, check out Nuke 13 and what they have done. You retouch one frame in video, and you let the AI learn what you did and apply it to the rest of the frames in the clip, effectively acting as a flexible assistant. Now, that is amazing. Enlarging a photo with no options to tweak the settings is far less amazing. Just saying. Lot of hype, but limited Wow factor, considering what is on the market today. Anyway, my critique is more at the Adobe in this case not your channel. So don't take it personally. I love your tutorials. Keep up the good work. Cheers!

Yeah, Topaz Gigapixel is Very good. For this example Gigapixel would Excel, Even at 400% upscale there would no comparison

@@colvingenealogy Although I don't know what your input or output looks like, except what you wrote, short of being a bug it should not be the case. You can post in Topaz forums your results and maybe I'll see you there. But I've seen people who try software, don't get what they expect and conclude , wrongly the software is the problem. I've upscale thousands of images with GigaPixel and compared it to every other one on the market that is available offline. And at the moment it is overall the best still. I suggest you try testing more or post on forums at Topaz labs under gigapixel forum so we can talk there about the specifics.

Barry G, I haven't tried it. But in theory, this should give you better results because of the machine learning technology that is better and will get better as time goes on.

I would say it is software. Enhance is the only thing that crashes Photoshop in my computer and it does it immediately. Mentioned in Adobe Forum 11/6/20 "Photoshop 22/Camera raw 13.0.2: Enhance Details crashes on Windows" no resolution that I have found as of yet 3/14/21. Sent 4 crash reports. Everything is up to date on my Adobe software. Just cannot use Enhance at this time and I am rely heavily on ACR to process. Again thanks for taking your valuable time to respond.

Matthew, Camera Raw should recognize the sidecar file and all your adjustments should be visible in Camera Raw and of course, they will apply to the new Enhance file.

Yeah, Michael, unfortunately, this heavily relies on your GPU. Are you an a laptop? or just an older desktop. It sounds like it was working hard!

9 year old Dell XP8500 w/NVIDIA GeForce GT 640. With a few changes over the years. Windows 10 and a solid state drive, a bit more RAM...it's a DINOSAUR!

So Enhance details cannot be applied to JPGs. But you should be able to apply Super Resolution to a JPG image. It tried it and it works fine for me. Does Super Resolution work on Raw images for you?

1. This feature is most useful when you want to print large scale and the original is not giving you the results you want. 2. Yeah, also, the problem might become the final resolution output. This was definitely not designed for scenarios like that or large panos. I think you ar in the right track :)

It's not a perfect solution, and it gives you better results in raw images. Also, generally speaking, this will give you better results than other enlargement tools in Photoshop.

Ron, Photoshop 2021 is Photoshop "CC." Adobe dropped the "CC" a few versions ago. Unless you want to, Photoshop 2021 does not save to the cloud. So you can keep your files as they are in your local hard drive. If you have Photoshop 2021 with the latest version of Camera Raw then you should be able to use it. Make sure you are using the Camera Raw plug in from Bridge, or from Photoshop, go to Open As (NOT Open). From the file type dropdown select Camera raw. Then find your file on your computer.

I tried the super Res. on a PSD file of my image but PSD doesn't work with camera raw plug in. So I converted it to JPEG then Tiff. Both gave me a message saying my images were not compatible with this feature and i needed to work with a 'Bayer type sensor raw image'... I went back to my original file which is a DNG and that DID work.. Unfortunately, I've made many changes from the original image which is now nothing like the original and they are now in the PSD format...... jpeg and tiff will open with camera raw but won't do the super res conversion. I probably just can't be helped with this particular image??

Well, not ALL studios use the same. Either Lightroom or Photoshop are used in most.

I'll take your word for it. I haven't done a comparison. If you have, you should make a video on it! I would love to see the results.

Peter, if you do not have Super Resolution and just Enhance Details it means that Camera Raw was not updated. Did you check from your creative cloud app to make sure Camera Raw was updated?

Yeah, you could do that. But I'm not sure if the results would make it worth it.

Generally speaking, it does add artifacts. After all, you're doubling the linear resolution. It's not by any means perfect. But in a lot of cases, the overall image enlargement works better than anything else in Photoshop.

@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel I am comparing with Topaz Gigapixel AI, though I have not compared the two in a precise way. My initial reaction is, that Photoshop is less pleasant to look at with a 2:1 enlargement, but I could be wrong.

@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel Could be but I've tried quite a few images of different sizes and I get artefacts every time.

Bayer and XTrans raw files are the most common types of raw files. Bayer is used by Sony, Nikon Canon, while XTrans are used by Fuji. Nothing happening is sort of the point. So this is meant to make your image larger without losing detail or getting blurred edges. In other words, is supposed to look the same when you make an image larger. In some cases, the detail enhancements may give off the appearance of more detail.

@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel Thanks so much. I thought something was wrong because your Photoshop shows differently. When I hold the cursor over my image to see the before and after, I see no change. I just see the image is larger, but no sharper.

Well, that's the ppi that your image was shot in. You can change it to 300 from the Image Size command in Photoshop.

Well, they're both used for upscaling. But the way of doing it is different. Since this uses machine learning technology it should give you better results.

@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel I am on the latest of both, yes. It comes up and says it does not support JPEG files with an "Unsupported file format" error. I've tried it on several different JPEGS just in case there may have been an error with one. I've tried it with .jpeg extension and .jpg extension.

@@Alphadragon1979 That's so weird it works fine on my end on a jpg. Does it work on a raw image on your machine? If you don't have one you can download the one from the link in the description of this video.

I have a Photoshop Raw option. When I proceed with the Photoshop Raw option it creates a weird grayscale photo with a double image. Clearly I'm doing something wrong. @@lisaroth719 Do you have camera raw installed? From your creative cloud app make sure it is installed. But from the Open As dialog, under file format there should be a camera raw option

Click then Open As in Photoshop and select your file, in the FILE TYPE drop-down select CAMERA RAW and then open.

As I mentioned in the video, if you use Bridge, you don't have to worry about the filter since it will take you straight to the Plugin. If you want to open a raw image then from Photoshop just open it as you would any other image. What I didn't mention in the video is that if you want to open a JPG, PNG, or Tiff from Photoshop you can go to Open As (NOT Open). From the file type dropdown select Camera raw. Then find your file on your computer.

From Ps go to Open As and from the dropdown select Camera Raw. You don't need Bridge. :)
