What if Dangaioh Burst, Dangaioh Flail, Dangaioh Cross, Dangaioh, and Great Dangaioh from "Haja Kyosei Great Dangaioh" were in Super Robot Wars? An ability showcase.
"Haja Kyosei Great Dangaioh" is an unfinished 13 episode Super Robot anime series, serving as a sequel and successor to the unfinished OVA "Hyper Combat Unit Dangaioh".
Despite sharing a director and studio, it bears little resemblance to the original OVA beyond its adherence to traditional Super Robot style and majority female pilot team; instead of following a cast primarily consisting of extraterrestrials and adventuring primarily on alien planets, it largely follows a team at a high tech base on Earth. Additionally, it adds elements of sexualization presented as humour as and a love triangle between the pilots.
Set after a catastrophic space impact, the story follows an scientific organization known as Avalda which develops a combining fighting robot that defends the world from various domestic and interstellar threats. The main pilot is Kuuya Amagi, a meek and unassertive young man who serves as the replacement for his deceased brother, the originally planned pilot. He is joined by Minami Mishio and Hitomi Chidou, both attracted to Kuuya but with opposite personalities.
Many elements of this series such as the title of the design and abilities of the Dangaioh machines seem to borrow heavily from the Mazinger franchise; it is worth noting that along with "Dai Majuu Gekitou: Hagane no Oni", the original "Hyper Combat Unit Dangaioh" developed out of an unrealized Mazinger Z project known as Daimazinger.
