What if GR-1 from "GR - Giant Robo" was in Super Robot Wars? An ability showcase.
GR - Giant Robo is a 13 episode anime series loosely based on Mitsuteru Yokoyama's early Super Robot manga Giant Robo. While it uses modernized versions of Yokoyama's designs and is similarly has a conflict between a government organization and a secret society, it is largely an original story.
In the world of GR, a mysterious organization known as GRO has unearthed giant robots left by an ancient civilization from within various historical monuments worldwide, and has subsequently been attacking other monuments and countries. The series follows Daisaku Kusama, a young man working as a diving after running away from home. After meeting a mysterious girl named V, Daisaku discovers an underwater pyramid, wherein the ancient artifacts offer him a contract with the iron god Edfu. After accepting the contact, Daisaku discovers that he is able to control the giant robot GR-1, and is taken in by the American-funded organization UNISOM to combat the thread of the GRO.

重力操作でスピードを補ってるのすごいと思う。後見た目がジャイアントロボの中だと1、2を争うぐらい好き。

こちらに載っている[GR-ジャイアントロボ](2007年頃物)側はラスト側で明かされる鉄神達の意味役割姿,最終的に用いられる人類(と言うか地球上生物環境状)の処理法(=ヴァンアレン帯の破壊)が独特で在り斬新だ. こちらは舞台が当時の現代で在りこちらも話中身はまともで良い. 鉄神同士の戦闘状等も良くGR2状の沖縄での戦闘模様状等も良く出来ている. 余談ながらこちらはOP状で地球に飛来した鉄神群が多数描かれるが本作状で登場した数どころでは無い. 過去側で外敵種と遣り合いかなりの数が消えているのかもしれんが.

大作がコックピットに乗ってるシーンがあるけど、理由がなかなか酷いんだよな（アメリカが確保したGRを動かせないので、勝手にGR-1からコントロールシステムだけ抜き取って搭載、その機体が敵と相討ちで失われた際にコントロールシステムも失ったから）大作が契約してたのでコックピットからシステム抜きで使えるから動かせるらしい（契約者はラインバレルに出てくるファクターと同じく不老不死に近い体になる模様、漫画版では数百年後の最終回で宇宙人と戦う為に作られた人類の技術で大量生産されたGR軍団を率いる立場になってましたね、人類製のGRはGR-1を解析して作った物だし）

このGR3との戦闘戦後に新宿渋谷あたりの24時間やっているファーストフード店で主人公が過ごすシーンがある。 GRの戦いが発生しているにもかかわらず日々南夫編mん化もなく、緩慢な時間が続くことを非難するようなシーンだった。 GRをリアルタイムで試聴した頃、私は学生で共感したシーンだったが、今の時代からすれば平和な時代の残滓に見える。それがとても悲しい。

悪役の名前は「ジョニー・ソッコー」です。ジャイアントロボ特撮テレビドラマ版の英訳から。この「ジョニー・ソッコー・アンド・ヒズ・フライング・ロボット」って英訳に「ジョニー・ソッコー」が「大作草間」の名前でした。

原点回帰とはいえ題材が1クールじゃ無茶がありすぎるし戦闘が初陣以外残念なのも勿体ない一度見れば世界観や雰囲気が全部頭に入ってくるOPはロボアニメの中でも上位クラスのクオリティだと思うしもっと知られてほしい

こっちの大作は古代文明の技術で契約者になったんだよね、その際に遺伝子も書き換えられて不死になってる、尚内部にいる理由は頭部にあるアバターと言うAIシステムをアメリカ側が抜き取って使った挙げ句に相手と相打ちになって失われたせいです、契約者はそのアバターのバックアップにもなる(尚原作の腕時計操作の要素は契約者になったあとに腕輪を与えられてそれで命令を出してる、アバターが無くなった後は大作が頭部のアバターの合ったところに融合して操作してます)

地球が静止する日以降の『GR計画』エピソードが見たいです。シルエットで登場したGR-4がGR-1そっくりなので特撮版でいうところの『カラミティ』のようなGRかもですが。f(^_^;

I prefer the OVA design, but I warmed up to this design eventually. This show is not half bad either.

No, It doesn't have a cockpit. All GR in this show are remote control (most of the time).

ova「地球が静止する日」は悲しいし感動する当時はLDで次の発売早く！と首を長くして待ってた最後の方のシーンで片目が壊れたジャイアントロボに主人公の草間大作（当然山口勝平）が壊れた片目に乗り込むシーンはもう泣けたまた銀鈴（島本須美）の関係性も泣ける見てない人は残念だと思う程の名作

音楽が酷過ぎる・・・もう少し音楽の力を利用した方が良い。横山光輝スターシステムを考えた今川版はストリィー上GRが霞んでも力で押し込む迫力が在った。（小まけぇことは良いンだよ！の精神）しかも音楽に対しオーケストレーションを使う贅沢さ。

え？　勝てると思うんだけど、、、最後の日って主に肩からの大砲や体に内蔵された遠距離武器がアドバンテージなだけでこのGRは重力を操って、目からビームが打てて、磁力(？)を使ってすごい威力のパンチや突進を出来るからむしろこっちの方が強くない？ビッグオーとだったらいい勝負しそうだ…

ジャイアントロボ大好きだから、期待して一応最後まで観たけど、これは横山先生のジャイアントロボではないね。別作品として観たらそれなりに面白かったかもしれないけど、何でここまで変えたのかが全話観てもその必要性が理解できなかった。ジャイアントロボは背中のジェットから吹き出して空に上がるのがカッコいい。ダコラーを吸収して重量制御で空中に浮かぶジャイアントロボなんて観たくなかった。

@@peppermillers8361 don't get me wrong i love both of them. I expected nothing out of the 2007 series but i expected something out of the OVA. I was hyped The English dub was hammy, the drama cheesy, the animation is cocaine but the entire thing was a "Wait what?" Or a "Is that it?" In the end. BigFire really shot themselves in the foot when they changed the other robots power source because the BEST fight was a flashback. What does he fight other than a statue, a copper golem, a Drill Dozer Boss, Uranus and Pepe the frog?. not the ones from the openings thats for sure. I really thought that GR 02 would show up again because it was that type of cheese. BUT again i love them both and i highly recommend

@@JohnJohn-yl4koI didn't really fully watch either dub, so I can't comment on them. The JP acting is pretty good on a melodramatic level, so I personally like it. I thought the drama was handled very well, very simple and graspable stakes and motivations that are executed masterfully and taken to interesting turns. I mean, Big Fire only changed the Power Source around the time of the Shizuma Drive. Personally the fact that they had a good mix of Mecha and Wuxia fights was more of a kicker for me than pure mecha fights. It also worked in favor of the environmental message the OVA had. And while I love Robo's fight with Uranus, I wouldn't say it's my favorite fight despite it being a pretty tense one. Really? Giant Robo is the complete opposite of complicated, and the ending gives a resolution to everything beautifully. The cliffhanger isn't even a cliffhanger and more of a preview for a non-existing final arc. Even the robots in the opening are more so meant to be fun nods than stuff you would actually see in the OVA, as if they're from previous arcs. If you want to see them in action, watch Tetsujin-28 from 2004, that's a good watch.

The story is fine (semi unfinished), the music has some decent tracks (hard to judge it since it wasn't released), and art style and animation look fine too for their time.

I think ova is boring in comparison lol I fell asleep watching the 2nd episode of it, and I don't normally fall asleep during films/series... it's too damn long lol

I'd hardly call this show garbage, but it doesn't live up to Imagawa's direction. It's not really trying to anyway.
