I agree with you. Although Shredder risked Karai's life many times, he did so unintentionally and never intended to harm her. He was cold, but he loved Karai like his own daughter. He lied to her, that's a fact, but it's just a psychological game created by the developers. The same thing happened to him in life, so he acted this way consciously or unconsciously, which does not rule out that he had good intentions towards Karai and cared about her very much. Karai was the only person after Tang Shen he cared about. Karai's opinion mattered to him, but he couldn't adapt to it, fixated on revenge on the splinter. If Karai had been more understanding and tried to support him, talk to him more about it, I think Shredder would have been able to change for the better. However, he had no one to support him mentally and reason all the time, so the lack of such a person made him who he is. I don't want to justify him or make him a good man because he's done a lot of bad things. But no one becomes a bad person for no reason.

This Shredder is a brilliant character. The 2003 Shredder had a brilliant voice actor and several unique ideas due to Ch'rell being an alien, the original Shredder being a demon and the Cyber Shredder being a living computer virus. However, the 2012 Shredder has a personality outside of just being evil and doesn't need to be an alien, a demon or a virus in order to be interesting. As far as character writing is concerned there's no contest. 2012 is superior and Kevin Michael Richardson's voice acting, despite not being as iconic as Scottie Ray's ability to make any dialogue sound terrifying, is better suited to this more human Shredder. Ray can pull off demonic evil like no other Shredder before or since but Richardson's playing him as a man, not just a monster.

He didn’t deserve Karai’s acknowledgment. Because she’s right: Shredder is NOT her father. He stole her from her real father, Splinter, and turned her against him. Even worse, he KILLED her mother Tang Shen. And he turned her into a weapon to use against his own brother. And he’s not even sorry about it. Shredder is just wrapped up in his obsessive hatred of Splinter for a woman choosing Yoshi over himself. And he blames everyone for all the tragedies that happened even though he is the one who is responsible. Oroku Saki is a narcissistic, violent psychopath. He doesn’t truly love anyone other than himself. He only knows rage, hate, obsession and violence. That’s why he’s a monster, both inside and out.

​@@Jeff_Prycethat's also true, but let's be honest, if the shredder had even a little bit of support from someone who didn't support his behavior and tried to reason with him, all these tragedies probably wouldn't be happened. Let's not forget that Shreddder is also human (or rather was) and despite the fact that he is physically strong, he is mentally weak. With time, it was too late for help, which still does not change the fact that he was a wreck of a man who was waiting for a fix or a wise mentor who would show him the right way. He didn't have it, so he became the monster he was. As for his feelings for Karai, it's quite a complicated thing, although I think he actually loved her, but he was so fixated on his obsession that over time, nothing else mattered to him other than fulfilling her. Sometimes after the mutation he had human remorse that he held before the mutation, but by then it was too late for any retreat. He's the type of villain who has his own motives and is unpredictable, but that's only because he didn't have the voice of reason with him that he knowingly or unknowingly needed.

I didn’t. He got everything he deserved. Kidnapped Karai as a baby, lied to her her entire life to make her believe that Splinter killed her mother and doesn’t find out that Splinter was her true father in the first place and raised under ignorance.
