If you want a simple yet satisfying homemade macaroni and cheese recipe, give this one a try
Ingredients:
4-5 cups elbow noodles
12 cups of water
2 tablespoons chicken bouillon
6 oz. Cream cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
40 ounces shredded cheese
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons salt
1 and 1/2 cup of heavy cream
1 EXTRA full cup of evaporated milk
1 stick of butter (1/2 stick melted, 1/2 to grease pan)
Directions:
Add water and bouillon to large pot and bring to a boil
Add noodles and boil 7-8 minutes until Al dente'
Drain noodles (do not rinse)
Add noodles back to pot
Add 1/2 stick melted butter, cream cheese, 1/2 cup heavy cream and sour cream. Mix well
Add salt and pepper to taste
Add about 70% of the shredded cheese, mix well
In a bowl add 1 extra full cup
of heavy cream and 1 extra full cup of evaporated milk, whisk together
Grease baking pan with remaining butter
Add half of the noodle mixture, top with half of remaining cheese
Pour half of the liquid over the noodles
Add remaining noodles, pour remaining liquid over the noodles and top with remaining cheese
Sprinkle with paprika and top with remaining butter
Bake at 400 degrees 30-35 mins
Let cool 10 minutes before serving
