Nice update. Only minor issues except the acceleration. Would have thought that would be the opposite with an electric motor.

Interesting report. However, what are you finding it's usable range to be? You didn't say how far your commute to work is. How much was the purchase cost? Just an alternative idea: when I was a boy, my mother bought a Honda 50 cub (1965 model). When I was 16 and got to use it, I found it would cruise at 40 - 45 mph and return 140 mpg. And as for range, I once did 156 miles in a day at a slower speed and used only 1 gallon. Yes 156 mpg. It was also capable of taking both my mother and father at the same time (joint weight about 25 stones). That was low cost motoring.

I've found that usable range is variable to a degree since it's affected noticably by wind, and terrain however I think you could comfortably rely on 30 miles in most conditions, 40-45 miles in ideal conditions, bearing in mind that it is not recommended to regularly run the battery down below 10%. My commute is about 17 miles one way. 50cc bikes are very frugal and might be a good choice for many. I particularly wanted to explore the electric route. There are servicing advantages, far fewer wearable parts and consumable items, however failure of a major component such as the motor could be harder to deal with as parts availability is patchy. It would be interesting to work out the mpg equivalent in terms of cost. The quoted running costs are 1p/mile so around 650-700 mpg? Of course since I charge for the return journey at work you could double that in real terms......🤔😂

@@kevindarkstar as true as that might be I have little choice if I want to get home in the evening. I guess you have to factor in battery replacement in any long term running cost calculations. That said now the loose connection is repaired my battery seems as good as ever.

Good review. Thanks. Just some AV advice... get a lapel / lavalier microphone and connect it to your phone or an external pocket recorder and then sync it up to your video. Was really hard to hear you most of the time.

Ok I will use kilometers so 30km is ok for me to charge once a day? On one battery? Also I leave up on the meal I’m talking about climbing steep hills to work and home. Would it climb plus I’m like 130kg. I want this bike but I think I’ll get a Yamaha ray ZR. What are you suggestion? Should I go for the Yamaha? Also I’m like 206cm Does the bike measure up to a regular motorbike size?

Steep hills and you're a big lad, I'd go for the petrol bike mate to be honest. The TS is quite small framed and slows noticeably on modest hills (I'm 90kg).

I have a Vmoto soco and I drove 15miles with it and now it not starting I have charge the battery but the bike are still dead why?

Did you ever think of getting a 2nd battery ? You can store 2 batteries in the bike and double the range

How many seconds would it take to het it from 0 to 45 km/h?

@DrVainz from 0-45 km/h it is around 6-7 sec. My sister owns one and it much faster than a normal petrol fueled moped in acceleration. Very funny to ride actually.

Well this is a bummer since i have 45 miles commute each day...cant charge at work sadly...i guess i have to wait even more to go electric....back to my 1988 diesel Merc 300D then...=)

There are electric motorbikes that will handle that range but they cost a fair bit more.

You can essentially unlock your motor to reach 70 mph in equivalent to a roughly 125cc (disclaimer: battery issues or something like that) with the throttle and brake holding it in a certain way/order. There are other KZfaq videos on it.

Yes, it can be derestricted with a certain sequence (I did it) no way will it reach 70mph though. Restricted 30mph max, derestricted 45mph max. It's not a huge difference. Also newer models can't be derestricted I believe.

@@maxmm.1035 no worries, it depends really what you want to do with it, if you have a short urban commute to work or college then it's very cheap to run. If you're hoping to visit mates in the next town or ride around on it all day then the range will be an issue. Much as I loved the bike from a cost/environmental point of view, a 50cc petrol bike will be much more versatile.

i modded my ts1200 see... the controller is whats doing the power cycle and thats wwhat cuts your throttle. its the smaller pins in the plug .. now.. i have 2 batteries.. but i doont have a splitter from sooco.. and i wanted them parralel. so.. i wired into each battery a positive and a negitave. and put a male xt60 on one battery and female on the other... few reasons.. first one.. when i charge.. i can parallell the batteries and charge them together with a single plug.. quite handy. but on the bike. i wired a splitter with a male and a female xt60 connector to directly powewr the controller positive and negitave connection... end result.. when i drive i bypass the controllers battery info inputs... as a negitave.. i cant see my battery lv unless i stop and manually plug in the default plug wich i normally have un plugged unless i need to check battery lvs... but i also get no break charging... however... i also dont ever have throttle drop... my throttle ALWAYS works when i want it.. and my load is evenly distributed betwewen my 2 batteries so its better on them for life span.

Sounds like you got around the throttle drop. This is a fairly old video and I don't have the bike any more but I remember those drops in response being a particularly unwelcome feature. I did very much enjoy owning the bike though and it saved me a fortune on my commute!

Are you comparing the acceleration to a 4 stroke 50cc Scooter?

Not really (its been decades since I've ridden one) just noting that the acceleration is pretty minimal and you have to adapt your driving/riding style to cope with that.

@@ttxela ok. It's just that's the nearest ICE equivalent as far as I know, the super soco TC max being the nearest to a 125. Was just curious as to how the ts1200 compared next to a 50cc scooter and if you'd compared them side by side. Cheers!

It varies according to weather and terrain but I wouldn't rely on any more than 25 miles.

45 is perfectly possible but under ideal conditions. My commute is 15 miles and I can have anything from 55% to 25% battery left on arrival. Temperature and wind are big factors.
