It's just weird though, because once all-in and forced showdown there is no point to lying . . . I don't get it. Maybe forced habit of lying during a hand so continues after it's over and will be exposed?

I have been fantasizing about just being some vagabond poker player and found your videos. I was initially going to play in Vegas but I saw the Morongo is only a 3 hour drive away. So I got off work yesterday and went there to play my first real life casino poker. Ended up with 5 racks at the 1 - 2 in just 3 hours. Started with 100 and ended up cashing out 500. Really amazing experience. Thanks for uploading it has truly been a big part of my life.

It’s actually a good lie for later in the game if his hand loses he doesn’t lose any credibility if he just throws his hand away. He hear you two reveal your hands so if he gets out flopped he doesn’t have to show. It took me a while but maybe that’s what he was thinking.

Now that you mention it, that's actually really smart. At first I couldn't see the benefit of lying about the strength of your hand AFTER putting all of the money in pre. But If they both say they have Ace King and you say you "don't even have a pair" then that might make them think you're a maniac who overplayed QJ or something like that. And of they get there on you and you muck then they'll never know. Is this guy lowkey brilliant?

@connman8d617
@connman8d617 2 жыл бұрын
20:00 My boy. I think your river bet here was too large. Thinking about the hands that you are trying to get your opponent to fold they fall into several categories. 1.) Whiffed diamond draws which will fold to any bet. 2.) Single pairs like 33-TT as well as Jx hands which should all fold to more than about 40% pot. 3.) Qx which might get a little bit stickier but should still fold to a bet of 70% pot or more. Then there are the hands that your opponent MIGHT fold. Those include trips, straights and weak flushes. But these hands will only fold if they are at risk of significant pain if they lose (like if you were to overbet 2x pot or more). The issue with betting pot is that it's not enough to get your opponent to fold a king or better but it's probably more than you need to bet to get him to fold a queen. So when he has one of those hands he's never folding you just lose more than necessary. I think you bet $150 here and it accomplishes the same thing as betting the pot only you risk less. Feel free to provide any thoughts you have on this analysis?

@@MarianoPoker You certainly don't owe me any more of an explanation than that if you don't care to engage any further. But I was just considering what kinds of hands you would want to take a bet/check/bet line with for value and I was thinking you'd be betting a fair number of weaker hands for value here. Hands like AA/AQ would definitely be thin(ish) value candidates and if you have those in your river value range then I'm not so sure you should be betting so big for value which led me to believe that going so big on a bluff would be an imbalanced play. Just my thoughts. Thanks for your reply and keep putting out that awesome content.
