the lack of quality on a $80+ figure is very disappointing. Neca's figures had much better paint-aps and quality for around $25-$35. definitely been disappointed with Super7. A lot of low quality figures at premium prices.

I personally like the thirsty for blood figure more, as the unique paint would make it stand out more in a Godzilla collection, which is mostly black.

Great review. I'm not too pleased with the paint plus some of the articulation but I do like the sculpt and size. I plan on repainting mine and using it in a stop motion project with the Neca Kong which scale very well

It just looks like an articulated trendmasters Godzilla. And I think that was the intention considering how super 7 loves to do articulated retro style figures.

If this figure was on 6 inch scale, had a mat finish and retailed for 30-40 USD at most, I would buy it

Last year at Comic Con, I had the pleasure of attending a panel hosted by Super7 regarding Godzilla. I didn’t get to stay long unfortunately, but for the time I was there, it was really nice. The level of passion the guys at Super7 had while discussing Godzilla’s film and merchandising history was really heart warming. You could tell as they went over Godzilla’s history they had a lot of passion for the character and great knowledge/appreciation of the character’s history. Likewise you could tell they were really happy to have such a brand under their banner and create new pieces of merchandise to add to Godzilla’s already wide merchandise history. I mention all of this because I want to drive home just how disappointing it is seeing this is what Super7 put out. For what they are, the Ultimate’s line isn’t too egregious. The figures are nicely sculpted, sure, but the really shiny plastic they used to make these figures makes them look and feel like something worth half the price. The painting in some areas is nice, while in others (especially the hand there) it looks like they just smeared some acrylic paint on it and called it a day. All of it combined results in something that doesn’t look like a figure worth it’s asking price at all, maybe half of it on a good day, but not $80+. I don’t know what kind of deal Super7 struck up with Toho to get the rights to make figures, but this figure in particular is not a great introduction for the Ultimates line.

I just got mine in a few minutes ago. I gotta say, this thing is waaaaaay better in hand than the photos. That shine REALLY seems to come through on videos and pictures. But, even with that, it’s there enough to see that they TRIED to have a black wash on this figure, and it takes away from that. I have the SDCC figure that I really like, and I feel like, in terms of the paint, they did everything right on their figure. That’s my biggest gripe, along with the tail. I HAAATE the tail on these figures. I would prefer they limit the sections of the tail to 5 pieces or something, and give us more detail and paint. The articulation on the tail is limited anyways.

From the thumbnail, I don’t know why or how. But I thought Godzillas neck wrapped in Biollantes vines were the segmented joints of Godzillas neck?

How does it scale with Neca King Kong?

I just purchased this bad boy I'm very happy with him and it's my first zilla figure

Im down for them making Goji figures but thier first one released wasnt done at all. U can tell they rushed it out to make a deadline and it shows as thiers glossy body paint and popcorn looking teeth with the close mouth and the overall sculpt of Bio Goji isnt accentuate especially the dorsal fins. Im hopng they consider a Reissue of this guy with an articulated jaw and better sculpt for the head too and adjust his tail joints.

I love Godzilla, I would like and subscribe. at all.

This makes me wonder why is is so expensive. Especially when Hiya isbout there cheaper and with better articulation and paint.

Everything super 7 makes looks like a toy i played with in the 90s.. none of there stuff looks worth half of what they charge. I have far less issues paying paying monsterarts prices just for the realism and articulation. This to me is nothing more than a 20 dollar vinyl target than a high end collectable

If those were mass produced retail figures with a cost of $25-$30 each, yeah, I'd agree that they're pretty good figures...but they aren't. They are made-to-order figures made by a company that focuses on making figures for "adult collectors" and charged $80 bucks each (only in the USA in other countries their costs were up to $130). It's pretty mediocre work by Super7 and a let down compared to what we were promised.
