Episode 2 of my hunt to buy my first motorbike. The Michelin team set me up with 12x World Champion Dougie Lampkin (The Ken Block of Motorbikes) to explore trial bikes and the world of off-road biking!
For Christmas I want to buy my first motorbike. When I told Michelin my plan, they promised to open their doors to their world of 2 wheels and show me just how varied life can by on a motorbike! Dougie Lampkin is a long serving Michelin ambassador and it was awesome to get my first ever trials bike lesson from such a legend!

Dougie Lampkin is one the nicest guys around. He’s very good (world champion level) at what he does, he’s a superb communicator and teacher and he has a great sense of humour.

Funny watching a trials beginners’ throttle control and "stiff" body position and remembering how hard it was when I started... keep at it it does start to click once you get used to correct body position and the throttle.. great fun!

@@NoRRis1729 TBH he's probably a decent guy in person but somehow has lost his way. if you say your going to enter a sport then do videos training to enter then suddenly say another one altogether and drop everything people will look badly at you. i watched trails riding as a kid and it's very very selective yet he can't get up a muddy bank, most people who pass their bike tests tend to want to do road trips or track days non of them think of trails or motocross. what next is he going to announce a season in WSBK or BSB?

Someone who is passionate about motorcycles and trials riding missed the opportunity of lifetime to ride with a great. Surely there was someone more deserving and someone who would've given their all and actually tried the course Dougie demonstrated.

At 65 years, I remember teaching the "kids" the basics when we rode at Palm ave in San Diego (adjacent to Brown field on the Otay mesa) I still ride, got a TW200. Thanks for the memories.

Reminds me of when Ross Noble did the isdt. Scored something like 1053 points when the most you get was a 1050. I think Dougie won that year with 1 point. At least try and fail rather than not try at all. Really poor Paul.

Balance is the most important thing one learns in motorcycling, be it your weight, motorcycle's weight or the clutch throttle brake balance. Keep going and you will get better

Fantasising of getting a trials bike as deep down I want a supermoto but I know I will lose my licence and job. But there's nowhere near where I can ride. The only place I can think is we have a lot of sea defense and concrete structures on secluded beaches but I know I'd get stopped pretty quickly

you don't ride any other kind of bike standing up 100% of the time like trials bikes. thats not even practical to say "trials should be the backbone of doing your motorbike test." taking someone out for a week on a trials bike will do little to prepare them for riding a road legal bike on the roads

I enjoyed the video, but i feel like this doesn't belong on the supercars of london channel. I think Paul would do better if he made a 2nd channel for stuff like this and keep the Supercars of London channel at its routes of literally filming supercars. just my opinion, no hate at all - been a follower for many years and it sucks to see this channel struggle.

I saw Paul in London in his car once. People were taking photos etc. Normally people like him, TGe Etc really engage with fans and chat etc. But Paul nope. Them trials are so basic, might seem somewhat scary for your first time? But don’t understand why you didn’t do it, when you’ve done it once you’ll realise it’s a pile of piss, the bikes is doing most of it for you. Years ago when we bought our first trials bike, from inch perfect trials as well my 9 and 10 year old brother and sister was doing more technical stuff on there first day, you barely rode up a hill 😂
