I've always had a thing for a 1996 Chevy Impala SS but this one is on another level with that Vortec supercharger making 550 hp at the wheels and it was built to do burnouts and donuts or just cruise. We did all of those shooting with Stevie so sit back and enjoy the ride...

😱. Really??? It’s just the body, so I can get past that, but I’ve always thought this was one of the ugliest cars ever…especially when they were Police cars back home in StL. 🤷🏻‍♂️. Performance don’t lie though…it def has it where it needs it. 👍🏼

@JoeMicc1973 I felt the same way for a long time, mainly due to them being police cars, which still can bug me a little bit. However, they've grown on me over the last few years. Maybe nostalgia is to blame, but I think if done right, kinda like this one, they can be pretty cool and mean looking cars.

My family is very law enforcement strong…I just didn’t choose that professional path though. I just think they’re ugly and hated that our Police Dept used them because they made the squad cars ugly. 😂😂

My family bought one new in this color with grey interior for 26k. Even with 260 hp LT1 It moved ok for a proper full sized car . Comfy . The worst thing as mentioned was the plastic bits like window switches , really super cheap even for GM . But a car you could drive for 100s of thousands of miles with no problem . Went around corners decent for full sized car . The caprice old folk version was actually lighter and slightly faster . The SS had the better police suspension and bigger sway bars and maybe some other stuff , the basic but cool wheels , leather , and body treatement that made it heavier and less aero so actually slower . Very solid car though minus the cheap plastics and not very expensive , we got ours at invoice pricing i believe and it seemed a bargain . This LS is way more then enough . Popular cars that people always complimented . The burgandy was the color to get , it came in black and a greenish grey color but this is the classic color and how they look best . It got sold for good money with 200k on clock even after my dad got whole in oil pan and drove it without oil to his mechanic . New pan and put oil in and it knocked and lost some power but was still running when the guy bought to make into a show car , painted it black with painted graphics and did interior and left the engine for many miles . He just wanted the SS body style . Rappers liked them back in the day . I enjoyed driving it as a young man or being in back seat for family shit , lots of room , felt safe , good passing power and looked cool . Stereo was better then caprice ,not awesome but louder then the grandpa versions , mom drove a C4 LT 1 VETTE A and in 98 i got one of the very first SS Camaros in 98 whenthe had a singke large exhaust pipe tyey changed right away when people went batshit .

When the SS came out, there was one on the local dealer lot. I was painting my El Camino, and wanted that color. When I went in to the parts store to pick out the color, I picked the wrong one out of the paint chip book (since the parts guy didn't know for sure which cars the color came on). Impalas were actually DCM "Dark Cherry Metallic" (or Black or DGGM = Dark Green-Gray Metallic), but I picked "Black Rose Metallic" out of the book, which is a bit more purple. It came on Cavaliers and Corvettes in the mid 90's, then made a comeback on Corvette a few years ago. Turns out, I actually like the purple better, but I still remember how awesome the Impala SS looked when it was new. I've owned a 96 9C1 and a 95 Caprice Wagon since then; honestly I liked both better than the SS (I've driven a few, and don't care for the seats). The 9C1 actually had more heavy duty stuff than the Impala, and the Wagon was a heck of a sleeper with all the same equipment (which, after some tweaks, was quite a bit quicker too). They're gone now, so the next step is either a Roadmaster or a Fleetwood. :D

Fucking love it dude my first car was a 96 caprice with the 350 swap and for a stock 350 it was pretty respectable for a naturally aspirated motar and a heavy boat lol. Then I sold it was one of the worst things I did I miss that car so much I had it for 6 years and never had any issues with it
