If you buy a Supercomputer and install windows on it every games will run like a photon that never encounter an obstacle with FPS around 1Bill+ and with resolutions up to 253,956,096x126,978,048 on a specialized monitor. Speaking about the config: ×CPUs at 4gHz each ×Times NVIDIA TESLA K×× ×Amount of RAM (Probably in the TeraBytes zone) ×Amount of Storage(Probably in the Peta or YottaBytes Zone) Water Cooling(obliged) ×PSUs of like 3000-4000WATTS each No Wi-Fi (ethernet is barely on them so Fiber Optics is required)

Well if you'd compared that directly to the computing power of a real human brain, then not only would you be mentally deficient but also not be able to keep up with essential functions for living. The human brain makes any conventional cpu look like a toaster... hmmm human brain powered gaming computers...
@letsgoiowa
@letsgoiowa 9 жыл бұрын
aspade01 Brains are more similar to GPUs, actually, because of thousands of fairly weak cores compared to just 2-8 large and strong ones. The raw computing power of a GPU is far superior to the human brain, but the _way_ the brain works allows us to do things that we can't figure out how to make computers do yet, and not for a lack of power. We know very little about neuroscience.

(would be a good addition to your mice afaps) OR -Contrast ratio/QR code/Kalih, Topra & Romer G switches (this is just a worst case scenario suggestion) i'm not giving up until you do a video of my suggestions >__>

Keyvan Khadem Ravandi IMO some of those topics are getting too close to computer engineering or OS theory level for Linus' average viewer... questions like "What does a kernel actually do" and "How does my filesystem work" have pretty complex answers. faculty.salina.k-state.edu/tim/ossg/index.html

Keyvan Khadem Ravandi Hear hear. Quick note, though, Unix-like kernels are typically hybrid; they have both modular and monolithic features. Same for Windows, as I understand it. The stuff you're looking for gets talked about every now and again on Tek Syndicate-- I'd recommend looking them up.

I just came from a PS3 video, and I remember it being somewhat market it as a Super Computer. The hype train. The first time ever read about it, it said that it was going to be 8 times more powerful than a PC. It was truly a great subtle marketing strategy, because at the end of the day it gets people really excited, and since they were subtle suggestions it doesn't outrage the public as the years pass by.

well ya exactly, most super computers (pretty much all of them actually) run on a version of Linux that as Linus said is highly customized and tailored to that super computer. What actually really makes them all Linux based is that regardless of how customized the OS at its heart and core it is still running on and using the Linux Kernel. Which the kernel in its own right is considered flipping awesome and amazing and rock solid for like ever pretty much. So that equals very very very (almost) zero downtime due to OS related errors and crashes.

The same kind of CPU is still used now just again in specialized computers and will most likely not run most consumers programs as it is based on a cell architure not a x86 architure which they use totally diffneret methods to run.

Even if supercomputers ran Windows, those Tesla GPU's are only compute cards, and as far as I know most don't actually work at all for gaming, hell most Tesla cards don't even have a display output. I don't even think these things have IGPU's, so no graphics at all. tl;dr Definitely No Crysis.

Those Tesla cards are raw GPUs so no Modifications were added like video output overclocking and fancy RGBs

When we got our supercomputer it was the fastest in Europe and 6th in the world, but that was 2007. We now replaced it with a 64 GPU cluster as our compute needs haven't increased much but technology caught up to where we're not even in the supercomputer top 500 any more.

What did you say: Fold at home? Hmm...need to check it. Speaking about distributed computing - I do it every night. I have a Samsung Power Sleep app that uses my processor to calculate stuff for SIMAP project, while I sleep - this thing acts like an alarm-clock also. And I use BOINC for all of my office computers - nice thing.
