Chur. Thailand is awesome and so are you for hearing this gem of the 90’s. This was an important song for the growth of New Zealand music. As a kid I saw that we could produce some real quality stuff, pretty inspiring when living there feels like you’re on the end of the world

The early nineties will always be remembered as the era of Acid Jazz and Funk for me. It did not matter if it was Oz, NZ the US or the UK it was all groove bass lines, brass and funky percussion. I wish we could bring that era back.

Che Fu is such a cool brotha, he was at a place trying to chill & I drunkenly interrupted him, making a fool of myself, looking back I feel like a complete douche but he treated me with absolute respect and was so calm, I love that dude.

@@mattcotton4946I used to bounce and bar tend at a student bar called the Kiwi2 where they regularly use to gig just before they jumped off and I always used to think to myself how the flip haven't these dudes been picked up with a record deal yet. Also back in the day, Auckland Uni had their own bar (not the one where I worked) where they used to annually hold the NORML gigs. Basically a stoners rage and Che was a regular at that event. And not as an artist if you know I mean. He was a cool dude for sure. 😊

Went to school with this dude. Table tennis at lunchtimes. Two years my senior but was the most approachable guy. Sang a song that made everyone bawl their eyes out in his last assembly. Could replicate Stevie Wonder like no-one else. Totally underrated. K-Bar

I walk around this town As buildings close and windows are boarded I think about you When I hear a door slam in the wind And the glass on the mat says welcome I think about you Sitting inside my head, Laughing at what I said Come on baby Let's have another toast You might think I'm dense, Laughing at my expense Let's fill the cup let's wash away the ghost In this ghost town where we live There's a wanted poster of you on every corner She keeps asking me 'who's that' and 'what's her name?' But I choke on every letter, As the glass flies off the table I keep telling her I ain't the one to blame Sitting inside my head, Laughing at what I said Come on baby Let's have another toast You might think I'm dense, Laughing at my expense Let's fill the cup Let's wash away the ghost I left when I was gone, I didn't feel a thing I didn't think you'd haunt me this long after But the buildings crumble down, As I run from the town I hear you breathe And I listen to your laughter Sitting inside my head, Laughing at what I said Come on baby let's have another toast You might think I'm dense, laughing at my expense Let's fill the cup Let's wash away the ghost I walk around this town As buildings close and windows are boarded I think about you When I hear a door slam in the wind And the glass on the mat that says Welcome I think about you I think about you

Must have been about 1990 at the Ruapehu Chatteau Tavern, having a few after ski drinks, SuperGroove played that night after an age issue was dismissed by the management following 200+ half cut patrons demanding them to let them play....Che Fu was just 16 years old. Ha! The power of the people. (Licenced Bar must be 18+ years old just to be in there)

It won't happen, the record company/band screwed Che Fu and the saxophone player, aka what gave them their distinct sound, over after Supergroove's first album. They were made to sign NDAs. For that whole time everyone in NZ thought Che Fu got too big for his boots and left when he was actually kicked out. Luckily Che Fu has produced great solo music
