You should do a comic book origins now for the Scott Lang, the second Ant-Man, since after the movie he became the better known Ant-Man.

Believe me, I'm the biggest Ant-Man geek you'll find. The reason Ant-Man or Wasp isn't in the Avengers is actually for another dumb reason as stated by Joss Whedon. He said the he wouldn't appeal to young Marvel fans, even though the movie has been in production since 2005, but they put it off until later (unknown why..) but it is kinda Edgar Wright's fault, he should have released the movie earlier. But seriously i totally agree, he SHOULD be in Avengers. However he might appear in Captain America 3...

Man I didn't think this many people would hate on Ant-Man. He's my favorite. I mean if you think about it he could kick anyone's butt. He can shrink to a subatomic size and still have the strength of a normal human. AND not to mention he can grow into a giant. And talk to one of the most powerful creatures in the animal kingdom. The ant. I think he should get a little more respect as a hero. As for Aquaman? Much lamer but he has to control all the oceans in the world, so that's obviously pretty tough. But Ant Man is an awesome superhero. My all time favorite.

***** Also, I find him a lot more realistic compared to other superheroes because like many people today he lacks self esteem and doesn't believe in himself at times, there was even a case in one comic where he nearly committed suicide (which he faked later and became Marvel's biggest dinghis hole Yellowjacket) but he ended up being able to push through that and regain his confidence. They should totally start making WWPD instead of WWJD. You know. What would Pym do? Screw Batman forever. This is Ant-Man forever!

I like Hank in Avengers EMH, that show was a great Marvel TV show to watch! Too bad Season 3 was cancelled. In that show Hank really does follow Human Rights, he likes to help the villains in a good way, talk to them and if necessary, use violence AFTER. I also liked it when he became Yellowjacket, a more of a guy who goes for violence first, has a microversal gun, and can fly, blablabla.

Thomas T That makes no sense. Hank Pym creating Ultron's A.I. back in the 1960's and then conveniently leaving the program lying around for Tony Stark to find 40 years later is just a lame excuse to connect Hank Pym to Ultron without having to change Edgar Wright's Ant-Man script that makes Hank an old man. What they should've done was toss Edgar Wright's script in the shredder and re-wrote Ant-Man for a young Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne and had them in The Avengers movies instead of all this ridiculous shoehorning of Edgar Wright's script, which even Marvel Studios later admitted wasn't working and didn't fit into the MCU, which led to Wright quitting the film. Such a waste of time, and Hank and Janet deserved better.

I am so sick of people criticising the new Ant-man movie just because it happens to be Scott instead of Hank. Now I do prefer Hank as Ant-man in the comics but come on people, do we really need another MCU origin movie about a genius billionaire who creates a suit with a retractable metal helmet and has some serious issues? Hank is in this movie played by the Hollywood legend Michael Douglas and is a perfect fit. I also think that it makes more scene in the movie that the Ant-man suit has been around since the 70s because that means that Hank and Janet could have possibly been responsible for the Avengers program. Which means that Marvel are sticking to the continuity of the characters and also the name "Ant-man" sounds so weird and trippy that maybe it sounded cool back in the 70s and that's why Hank picked it.

I'm a big fan of Ant man more so Hank Pym. He was intelligent and humble had great ideas for mankind in the marvel universe and kind of the Anti Tony Stark. He loved Wasp and he's abilities were pretty kool. He was also a big pro mutant (seeing how the Wasp is a mutant herself) He wasn't about killing but more of rehabilitating ex cons who were mutants or super powered. He freaken created UTLRON which is a HUGE villain for the Avengers. His communicating with Ants is pretty funny and the fact that he can grow 60 feet was a very kool power. Hell, it let him fight guys like the Hulk, Abomination and etc.. I hope the movie rocks and does Hank Pym some justice. Besides if people don't like the passive Pym he does become Yellow Jacket which is really a BADASS character. Either way cant way to see him on the big screen and people should really give him a chance. He can get pretty small and STILL have the same strength of a normal man. So he can fight with the best of them. Plus he can use bugs to fly, he later learns to fly (Yellow Jacket) and can become as big as a building. Guy is unite intelligent and has many forms of his persona. Kids CAN and will look up to him.

He was Ant-Man, then alternated between that and Giant-Man, then changed his name to Goliath, then Yellowjacket, then he was just "Dr. Pym" for a while, then he became Ant-Man again, then when Janet died he became the new Wasp, then he decided to become just Giant-Man and forego the shrinking.

His strength increases with his size. To quote the Marvel Wiki: "At giant size, Pym's strength varies according to the height he achieves: at 10 feet tall, Pym can lift (press) 1000 pounds, at 25 feet tall he can lift (press) 10 tons. The higher Pym grows past 25 feet, the more of his strength he had to use simply to support his own enormous mass. At 100 feet tall, Pym can lift (press) 50 tons. He is capable of Class 100 strength at heights beyond 100 feet tall, though he usually cannot maintain those gigantic sizes for long."

Tales to Astonish was Marvel's science fiction anthology comic book and Hank's origin story in #27 was called "The Man In The Ant Hill" and it was originally kind of a sci-fi horror story with a scientist shrinking himself and having to survive being attacked by ants while trying to return back to normal. When Marvel entered the whole superhero comic thing (because originally they did horror, monster mystery and sci-fi comics) they took the scientist from this story and made him into Ant-Man. The Ant-Man who is going to be in the Marvel movie however is the second Ant-Man, Scott Lang (his origin is different and it's based on the comic "To Steal an Ant-Man" which was also adapted by the EMH cartoon and I think it's uploaded on youtube somewhere) Hank is actually his mentor in the movie.

Okay one quick question... When he became the Ant-Man... His strength will be the same as when he's in his normal size... Then when he became the Giant Man.. He will become more weaker right? Coz his strength is the same as when he is in his normal size right? I need a answer *_*
@44excalibur
@44excalibur 9 жыл бұрын
Heimdall The Lost Guardian No, when Hank Pym grows and becomes Giant-Man his strength increases in proportion to his size. If Hank's strength remained the same as normal size when he grew he'd be unable to support his increased mass, and he would fall down and be immobilized. At 10-15 feet tall, Hank Pym can lift close to 1 ton, which is equal to Captain America's strength. At 20-25 feet tall, Hank can lift 10 tons, making him as strong as Spider-Man. At 50 feet tall, Hank is close to Iron Man level strength, and at 100 feet tall, Hank is at near Hulk-level strength, which is Class 100(able to lift/press 100 tons).

This films either going to suck or be a great hit like the Guardians. People thought that was going to suck, a talking tree and a racoon...Fail. Yet it's up there with Avengers. I have faith in Marvel so this will have some if not all decent points to be a good movie.
@44excalibur
@44excalibur 9 жыл бұрын
josh edgar I'd have faith in Marvel if they made this film about Hank Pym as Ant-Man/Giant-Man and Janet Van Dyne as The Wasp, as they would be the most cinematically appealing characters as well as the most compatible with the Avengers storyline, as Hank and Janet are co-founding members of the Avengers and Hank created Ultron. But this terrible mess of a film makes Hank Pym an old man and Janet deceased, and eliminates them entirely from their own story. Hank and Janet's story was the one that was most compatible with the Avengers and Ultron storylines, not to mention that they are more cinematically appealing and have the most history. Making this movie about Scott Lang, a guy who just shrinks and is a second-rate superhero, is total bullshit and is definitely NOT what I wanted. I wanted Hank and Janet.

William Linkous Guardians and The Avengers weren't perfect, but I wouldn't say they fucked them up. Hawkeye was woefully underdeveloped, the Chitauri are a poor substitute for the Skrulls, Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne's omission from the Avengers is unforgivable, and the script could've used a bit more polish, but The Avengers was good overall. Guardians could've been a bit less Saturday-morning-cartoonish, but it was still pretty tight in terms of pacing and storytelling - although the Nova-Corps wasn't done justice, and Yondu's southern drawl was just ridiculous.

"Plugging the enemy guns with honey"? First of all, that would take a billion ants, considering how little honey each ant can carry. And what kind of honey is so strong that it can stop a bullet? That's some seriously thin writing right there. I don't even see why the ants needed to be a part of this story, other then as a tie-in to the name. It's pretty silly.

Physics. A punch at normal size has the amount of force spread out over the area of the point of impact (the fist). A smaller fist with no real change in the amount of force will concentrate that force to a smaller area, yielding a greater impact. Essentially, at a certain size threshold, Antman wouldn't be punching so much as stabbing the guy with his fist. Granted, the wound will only be as deep as his arm, so minimal. But get elbow deep in a man's kneecap, and then regrow?

True, but they do tend to give some information about details after the origin. With Kraven the Hunter, they got as far as his death.

ElQuinn McClarty Who, Hank Pym or Scott Lang? Because I wanted Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne on the big screen, Making this movie about Scott Lang and making Hank Pym an old man and Janet dead, completely eliminating them from their entire storyline in the Avengers, is total bullshit and is not what I wanted to see.
@ElQuinnMcClarty
@ElQuinnMcClarty 9 жыл бұрын
+ 44excalibur Yeah I wanted Hank too. But its Scott. Oh well. Lets see how it goes...
@44excalibur
@44excalibur 9 жыл бұрын
ElQuinn McClarty We already know how it's going to go. The entire Avengers and Ultron storylines are going to be upended and twisted into a convoluted mess. They're manufacturing some backstory for Hank Pym in the 1960's that connects him to Peggy Carter, Howard Stark, and SHIELD just so they can have Hank and Janet connected to the creation of the Avengers in some mediocre way, even though it makes no sense for Hank and Janet to co-found the Avengers 40 years before the team is even formed during a time when they are presumably the only superheroes in existence. This also means that Hank never becomes Giant-Man, as the only reason he even began growing is due to being on a team where everyone was so much more powerful than he was that he felt he needed to upgrade his abilities. And they also have to find some way to have Hank come up with the design for Ultron, but for whatever reason not build it and have the plans lying around for Tony Stark to conveniently find 40 years later, even though technical blueprints from 4 decades ago would be as useful to Tony Stark as the Skylab plans would be for NASA today. So basically we're just gonna get an Ant-Man who shrinks and that's it. No genius scientist-superhero who can go from microscopic size to over 100 feet tall, no Janet Van Dyne as The Wasp, no Hank creating Ultron, no Hank and Janet in the Avengers, a team they co-founded together and have been central figures in for 40 years in the comics; basically this sucks all around. And no matter what the film turns out to be, it'll never be as good as it could've been if they had just stuck with Hank and Janet.

Could have expanded more on his origins to this point with: Slapped the Wasp, Built Ultron, went crazy, that kind of thing. But Wikipedia helps.
