I think it has to do with the fact that he's very powerful, and usually powerful characters like Manhunter & Superman are going to get beat up more because they can handle it. Remember in the 1990s X-Men animated series, it was always Wolverine & Rogue getting thrown around & beat up because they both can handle it. But back to my point, at least it was great that Martian Manhunter was more badass in Justice League Unlimited.

Kal-El will obviously be able to empathise with J'onn J'onzz as they have both seen their planets destroyed / ravaged and stripped of life. Both are the last of their kind (inspiration for the re-invention of the Doctor in Doctor Who as Last of the Time Lords). Supes alludes to this in his remarks to MM.

And also, Martian Manhunter lost his entire race and planet of people, whereas Batman lost his parents and then he was left with billions of dollars to live on. Other than them both being detectives, I don't see how they're similar at all. But anyway, I hope Martian Manhunter gets more respect from DC.

Im assuming its a school project? You wanna tell 9 characters origin story in 3 movies? Martian man hunters can easily be introduced like an in earth invasion movie: the white martians invade earth the JLA battle the invaders, Martian Man hunter arrives and kicks ass. You can tell there origin then have one of them captured then he reveals martian man hunter as a hero. Superman and batman covered. Read Hush, TDK, the long holloween, tomorrow, superman for all seasons, kingdom come. WW gaurdian of the earth realm, amazon princess sent to help people from the alien invaders. Read comics man, its all ready been written.

No it's not for a school project haha but thanks :) I'm open to what other people their ideas. Martian Manhunter is allready done in the big lines. I'm getting some people together to really work on it now in details :) It's my own version of the D.C. Universe and who knows? I really do this just for fun. I kinda look at it like a novel. I feel like each character has a story to be told. Compared to Marvel. D.C. Is really rich to story lore. I did make some changes however. But for as far people have told me it looks really great. I only work on them whenever I am a 100% sure this is a great idea. So I'm looking for the fans, everyone could have another great idea or inspiration :) Mine Martian Manhunter is related to Area 51, Cyborg his storyline and Darkseid. In my version Martian Manhunter is a formal legendary war hero and the evil who used to fight back in his time wasn't defeated. And it is about to return to our system. My JL will be formed by an event where Earth is under attack and all these heroes notice each other during the battle to safe Earth. I look arround to find the inspiration to recreate this amazing universe. Martian Manhunter in my version will include: a presuel of the Era of the Martians and lots of Martian lore, politics, history and war (long long ago), some space adventures and ancient secrets. My main villain for the Martian Manhunter is his brother. You can also expect White Martians for sure and yhe Hyper clan. Maybe I'll make a comic of it evantually. But I'm not planning to create unlimited stories. Just each character has a story to tell in this rich universe :) I finished Cyborg, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman an Green Arrow in the big lines at this point. I'm working now on Green Lantern his role in this universe. Which turned out to be the hardest one! But I love to do it :) So I plan 3 stories for each member of the league. I plan 6 stories for the Justice League (9 members) Another 6 for the Justice League Beyond (7 members) When that is done ( about 2 - 3 years, depends on lots of things like team, inspiration etc.) I'm still looking for people to work on a: - Justice Leage Unlimited - the magicial aspects Within this universe as a spin off and how this would fit into my universe. The unlimited is for all lesser known heroes. The core members are used for Big events. The main villains I have chosen for the JL and JLB are: Darkseid, Vandal Savage, Arthur Light, Lord Havok, Anti-Monitor, Starro, Monarch, Imperiex , Yuga Khan I'm still looking for 2 others :) But I'm considering to reinvent some villains just to modernize them into something great. But the concept is cool. I try to relate each character to each other on a really subtile way. For example a big event, nature dissaster, etc. DO impact this universe. Like if you would kill off someone with a minor role in the current storyline. That same someone might have a bigger role/influence to the storyline of others or future/past events. Dont apologize for the source material its offensive for the reader, its like there telling us everything you like is stupid/corny/dated slight changes can be made to modernize but a complete revamp and just keeping the name for name recognition is a slap in the face. 2.tell the story in your own way, dont just take the best elemenst and adapt them, take the best story line and make them your own. 3.dont tweak the characters ethnicity or gender, Marvel and DC is doing that already and most fans dont like it, it falls into category 1, I rather see original content. 4.you should throw in well known villains as background behind the scenes type characters to get peoples attention, then throw in lesser known characters to stand out above the rest. The big names to introduce the lesser known, but the lesser known to carry the bulk of the story, that way people wont be able to compare your work to others. 5.treat the material with seriousness, I like what DC is doing in this regard, not so much marvel. 6.one character should be the central focuse of the whole story, a good guy or a villain, everyone should have a an important role everyone introduced should be introduced for a eeason not just because he would be cool just to be there. Ifnyou introduce a character why was he introduced? What did he bring to into the story that no other character could bring? Whats his usefullness? Dont be affraid to write a character off if he served his purpose, your audience will respect you more for it as a story teller. 7.what is the message of your story? Is it impending doom? Then there should be an hints alluding to that from the beginning, dont tell your audience it, makes them feel it. The theme justice/hope/fear/anarchy make us feel it. 8. Forget about origin stories, dont ignore them but dont give us anymore except for the lesser known villians, your gonna have to tell people about it. 9.make your human characters like batman larger than life by battleing there larger than life villains like killer croc, clay face, Solomon grundy, to make us believe in the larger story He belongs on a team like the justice League. 10.your supers should be more human they should also be larger than life, but that should be saved for the finally. For the bulk of the story the supers should be dealing with very human problems. These are common comic book themes that are often ignored by movies.

Li Cheng I'm actually developing my own one too. And it is very similar to the one you are building. There are some things that are tweaked here and there, but everything else is similar. I don't know of any particular White Martians to use in the JL movie, so I've created K'rann M'orzz (Yes, M'orzz. *wink*), the successor to a previous White Martian leader, and is a learning leader in the movie. I've also added the character of Silas Stone into the movie. In the future, I plan to introduce Cyborg, Black Canary, Green Arrow, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Doctor Fate, Zatanna, Huntress, and Aquaman. Villains? You have everything down pat, but I'm giving you Mongul (and Warworld) as more of a JL villain. Also, who would you cast as Martian Manhunter besides Idris Elba? (I've already considered him for Jon Stewart. Good day.

Well, his "weakness" to fire has been inconsistently portrayed over the years. At first it was an achilles-heel like weakness, where if exposed he'd lose his powers and even turn into a gel like pool or pile of green stuff. Then it started being depicted that he had pyro-phobia (fear of fire) to the pretty much psychological sense, where if he was around fire he became paralyzed with fear. Then later on, it got to where the modern day Martian Manhunter we know now became. It turns out that it actually wasn't a weakness after all, it was a "built-in" psychosomatic effect implanted into all his race by what were called Guardians Of The Universe. It was done to them to I guess keep them from getting violent and power-hungry like they used to be. It soon got removed, I honestly can't remember how, but now he's not vulnerable to fire, except when used in magical forms. But he's developed very advance defenses even against that. So, yeah, there you go.

Zindor Nice!! I haven't read that one yet, sounds badass. Martian Manhunter is a pretty underrated, forgotten-about, and underused character. Hell, even Superman himself, called him the most powerful being on the planet. Superman even expressed "worry" over the hypothetical situation that involves MM going rogue, cause even he wouldn't know what to do. MM is an awesome character, I've always been a fan of his due to the sole fact that he's not as popular, nobody knows him, it's a conversation starter when I would wear my MM t-shirt, but yet he's SUPER powerful, and cool.

Ze Destiged Check out Vision from Timely Comics from 1940. He may not be the Vision Death2Fanboys is referring to but it's clear that Martian Manhunter could be considered a rip off from Timely Comics's Vision. Even more so than Marvel's Vision since he's an android and MM is an alien.

Ze Destiged You're both right and wrong. 1. A retcon of Vision's past makes it so his body is a rebuilt model of the Original Human Torch, an android. That wasn't done until the 90's though. 2. D2FB stated Vision is the knock off not the other way around like Pedro is saying. 2B. Timely Comics is Marvel BTW being the publisher of Marvel Comics where they get their new name from in the 60's. 3. Problem is Vision is not a knock off or rip off of MM any more then Ultron is a rip off of Brainiac and if fact could make the argument the reverse was true as Brainiac didn't go full metal ('84) until 16 years after Ultron ('68).
