To see that superb scene for Superman - The Movie makes me appreciate the beauty and humanity of that movie. As incomparable as the acting was, the thing that sets that scene apart is John Williams capturing in music the love that can only exist between a mother and a son. It brings me to tears every time.

The earliest one would have been in George Reeves series, when Martha sees Clark off at the bus stop before he leaves for Metropolis. It’s a good scene, even if it is in black and white.

1st scene is kind of stupid ! They make it sound as if he is moving to a new galaxy, but he is just moving from Smalville to Metropolis ! Hell he can visit them in a second or even faster if he wishes !
