That's what doesn't make sense about this game. To unlock superman full abilies , pain is what is needed, the threat on his cousin , knowledge of what brainiac did to his home, his planet, his parents and the threat to lois, injustice superman would literally be there. Superman wouldn't be holding back here, he'd be let loose and murderous against brainiac.

Superman can hear , see, and sense FASTER then he moves. No way he couldn't save doctor fate, they nerfed him for their own narrative.

Don't forget that Superman had just been in prison, and the only reason Batman hadn't put him back there immediately was because Brainiac was a bigger threat and they needed to work together to stop him. Also I think that Dr Fate might have been on Batman's team, so it's entirely possible that Superman had let Brainiac kill him to make it easier to turn on Batman following Brainiac's defeat so they can get back to the business of protecting the world against themselves.

Superman was never powerless against magic, he's powerless against kryptonite. Magic is a "weakness" of his, but it can harm him like anything else, it's not a huge weakness like kryptonite
